I don’t think I’m the only one in saying that rating up to five is massively unsatisfying. I would really, REALLY like to at least have the OPTION to rate items up to 10, just like before.
I know the underlying system is still in place, because the total score still shows up as a percentage out of a 100.
GIVING SOMETHING A 3.5 INSTEAD OF A 7 IS NOT THE SAME!
I don’t even mind the fact that they are stars now instead of hearts, it is just the current rating is deeply disappointig.
So pretty please, with a cherry on top, reconsider changing it back.
I 1000000% agree with this. Rating shows & movies out of 5 is just vile. I don’t know who came up with this, but I really really really hope they give us our 10 star system back.
I definitely agree here!! Rating movies and shows up to 5 stars just doesn’t feel sufficient, in my opinion. I really hope you’ll reconsider bringing back the old rating system, where we could rate things up to 10 stars!!
I agree that the 10-scale was much more clear and meaningful than a five-scale, even with half-point support.
A bit part of why it was much more clear and meaningful (IMO) was the labels that helped to standardize what each level in the 10-point scale meant. These labels (IMO) made that scale more useful and meaningful than any rating scale I’d ever seen. And now those labels are gone, and we have just another generic five-star rating scale whose rating levels are open wide to interpretation. Why?
if you’re on android it might be that you have to slide across the scale, i remember seeing that somewhere. there isn’t exact parity between devices unfortunately
On android, the only way I can get it to show .5 (1.5, 2.5 etc) of a star is to select some text near the rating, then run my finger up and down the star rating so that it shows a small number (1, 1.5 ,2etc) on the star rating.
I have attached a screenshot to show what text I selected before sliding my finger over the stars.
I run my finger up the stars and back again and I have no problem getting to see the 0,5, 1,5, 2,5 etc. but as soon as I take my finger off at a .5 choice it just jumps to the whole number.
Next time I will try selecting the text you showed and then the stars and see what happens.
Yes please. The star system feels so generic and bland, first thing that pops to mind when I see star system is someone just copy pasted design from other services. Feels soulless.
7 has always been my mostly used classification. Giving somenting a 3.5 is an ordeal, as it usually just mistakes it for a 4. I have to keep trying and trying until it lands on the 3.5 stars. It’s frustrating, to say the least.
So, yes, please, bring back the 10 star rating system. As with a lot of other things from the older website, if it wasn’t broken, you shouldn’t have tried to “fix” it.
