Clarifications about YouTube shows

Navigating through this forum, I understood that there was a migration from TheTVDB to TMDB around 2021/2022. According to the TMDB Guidelines, YouTube shows and other kinds of web shows are not supported on TMDB (except for some cases). Since Trakt uses only the TMDB, if we want to add a show we have to do it on TMDB, so then it can be imported on Trakt.

For what concerns unsupported show on TMDB, like YouTube shows and web shows, I found on this post that “If a TV show isn’t allowed by TMDB, the TV show will remain on Trakt, without any future updates”. But I found this show which was recently updated (the last episode shown on Trakt was uploaded on the 6th of June), so my questions are:

  • Can these YouTube/web shows be updated? If so, how? I can’t find any way to add new episodes on the website GUI
  • Can we add new YouTube/web shows only on Trakt, so I can use both “official” shows from TMDB and “unofficial” YouTube/web shows from the Trakt internal database?

Also, apparently, Trakt’s GUI changed through the years, so for example I can’t find where I can see the datasource of a show, like shown here.

Basically if it isn’t in TMDB or removed by TMDB mods, it just won’t be able to get imported into trakt

Also, for shows, you need to add the tvdb id or IMDb id in TMDB external ids section for it to be able to be imported into trakt.

for movies, you need to add IMDb id in the TMDB external ids section for it to be able to be imported into trakt

These are just a validation steps to ensure they are not dup entries. Once added, it takes up to 24 hours before it can be imported into trakt.
