Disney+ thinks I don't live in the Netherlands

Today I wanted to watch the Dutch series “Amsterdam Centraal” on Disney+. So I opened Trakt and clicked “Watch Now.”
Then Disney+ opened, and instead of starting the series, the message “This is not available in your region” appeared.
Strange, because I live in the Netherlands. I closed Disney+ and repeated the steps mentioned above, unfortunately without success. The message reappeared.
I then closed the message in Disney+ and opened the series “Amsterdam Centraal” in Disney+ itself and clicked “Play Episode 1.”
Now, there was no region message, but the series started without any problems.
Conclusion: if it was started from Trakt, Disney+ thinks it wasn’t starting from the Netherlands. So, a region message.
Trakt is sending incorrect country information to Disney+ (and possibly to other streaming services, as I’ve had that message with HBO Max before).
Why is this going wrong?

Did you set the correct country in settings?

Hi, yes settings are correct.

Hello,

Today again play errors:

I don’t know what’s wrong, but when I start a series from Trakt, Disney+ says again it’s not available in my region.
If I start it directly in Disney+, there are no notifications and it plays without any issues.

Strange! Ive moved your topic from the discussions section to the questions and help section.

I’m seeing the same issue. Trying to play a program on Disney+ gives the error “This is not available in your region”

I’m set to region US.

This is new - it wasn’t happening up until a couple of weeks ago, when I finished watching Andor. I’ve now started watching Daredevil, and I’ve got it with all 5 episodes I’ve watched so far.

@support any thoughts?

Is it happening with all shows or just Daredevil? Are you trying to access the links on the website or a trakt app? Can you share a screenrecording? I’m unable to reproduce the issue.

What I noticed when starting (from a Trakt app) is that it happens randomly and not only with series but also with movies.

Which specific app are you using? Can you provide examples of the items that aren’t working?

The app we most use is Trakt on the Apple TvOS.

This afternoon i did a little test and started the movie Alien Romulus from Trakt on a Apple ipad with the same result. Disney+ app started and says again it’s not available in my region.
Then I start the movie directly in Disney+ app, there ware no notifications and it plays without any issue.

We’ve watched all (6) episodes of the series Amsterdam Centraal on Disney+. This was only possible by starting the episodes directly on Disney+ instead of from Trakt (due to region notifications).
We watched the last 3 episodes (at the end of last week?).
I just checked in Trakt to see if the scrobbling worked.
Unfortunately, it didn’t; see the attached photos from Trakt and Disney+.
I haven’t marked these last 3 episodes as watched yet.

The titles and images in Trakt don’t match those on Disney+, but it is the same series.

I should have said - this is using an Apple TV, so the tvOS app.

I’ve only been watching Daredevil on Disney+ recently, but before that I watched Andor, and don’t remember the error - I finished Andor a couple of weeks ago. I’ve just tested Andor again, and it does give the wrong region error.

I then tried Deadpool and Wolverine, and it launched correctly.

I’ll test some more series and movies over the weekend.

I’m able to reproduce the errors both of you have received on Apple TV with Disney+, so I’ve asked a developer to look into that. Hopefully we will have an answer soon. As for the issues with the automatic scrobbling, it won’t work for that show unfortunately, as it’s not streaming in the US.

That’s nice, but what about the same region error I get on an iPad (as previously reported) when going to Disney+ from Trakt?

Are you able to let me know if the stream option for the ones that are vs aren’t working also have/don’t have the ‘no link’ icon in the top right if you open the full list of sources? eg. long press the ‘Watch Now’ button and select ‘View Sources’ or ‘View Any Region Sources’.

I’m thinking that the links we’re getting from JustWatch may be broken in some way. If you can let me know something like:
example only
Deadpool & Wolverine - No icon - Works
Daredevil - Icon - Doesn’t work

Some examples:

Daredevil: Born Again - icon - Doesn’t work

Ironheart - icon - Doesn’t work

A Murder at the End of the World - Icon - Doesn’t work

Paradise - Icon - Doesn’t work

Shardlake - Icon - Doesn’t work

The Veil - Icon - Doesn’t work

Guardians of The Galaxy - icon - Works

Avatar - icon - Works

Deadpool - icon - Works

none of the icons indicated United States, all indicated Netherlands.

Our Disney+ account will be shutting down on September 7th.
I can still test it until then.
Reasons include: too expensive, usually can’t watch via Trakt, and scrobbling often doesn’t work.

Sorry, I didn’t have any time to look at this sooner. Below is the information you requested. Whilst testing I have discovered there are two error messages when the program is launched successfully.

  1. Sorry, content you are trying to access is not available currently. You will be re-directed to Disney+ Home.
  2. This content is not currently available in you region.

The first appears to occur when you try to launch a series from the Show or Season level where there is only 1 season, whereas the second occurs when you try to launch an individual episode.

Trakt tvOS version : 1.6.1 (154)

The Mandalorian - no broken link icon - Error (see note [1] below)

Daredevil: Born Again - broken link icon - Error (see note [2] below)

Ironheart - broken link icon - OK, launches correctly (see note [2] below)

Obi-Wan Kenobi - no broken link icon - Error (see note [1] below)

Guardians of the Galaxy - no broken link icon - OK, launches correctly (see note [1] below)

Avatar - no broken link icon - OK, launches correctly (see note [1] below)

Fight Club - no broken link icon - Error (see note [1] below)

28 Weeks Later - no broken link icon - OK, launches correctly (see note [1] below)

Logan - no broken link icon - OK, launches correctly (see note [1] below)

[1] The broken link icon DID show for some of the other Disney+ regions when selecting ‘View Any Region Sources’

[2] The broken link icon does NOT show for all Disney+ regions when selecting ‘View Any Region Sources’

I’m not sure if the information about the variability of links being broken or not for different regions helps or means anything - it probably just reflects that Disney+ won’t have some programs available in all regions.

OK, thanks for looking into why it might be going wrong.
However, I still have the following question:
Why do you get the ‘error message’ when starting the selected program in Disney+, and can you start the selected program without any problems after dismissing the ‘error message’ in Disney+?
So:
1 - Open Trakt and start a series or movie that’s available in Disney+.
2 - Disney+ opens and displays an error message saying ‘not available in your region’.
3 - Dismiss the message in Disney+ and start the desired series or movie without any problem/message.
So the cause of the error is the connection from Trakt to Disney+, isn’t it? Or am I misunderstanding?

Also, what you describe as the cause: ‘where the second occurs when you try to launch an individual episode’.
I never start a specific episode, and I don’t need to because Trakt keeps track of which episodes I’ve already watched and lets Trakt choose the next (unwatched) episode.

@IsHome you misunderstood my post - I was replying to Tyson with my testing results to help him investigate it.
