Start Watching shows Watched content

Short description of the issue

  • The “Start Watching” section is prompting me to watch shows I’ve already watched.

How do I make these prompts go away?

Hi,
The Start Watching section will show you shows that are in your “watchlist”. Do you have shows you have watched in that list?

Yes, because I was advised to do that as a work around of combining the “Start Watching” and “Continue Watching” to sort both.

Hi,
The watchlist is a list where you should only have items you did not start watching, or that you intend to either rewatch or undrop. Items are automatically removed from that list once you have watched 1 episode (after they were added there).
Items that you have watched show up in “Start Watching” if you have them at your watchlist, since having them there is considered that you might want to rewatch. So I recommend you to remove any items from that list that you have watched and do not want to rewatch.

What’s the recommended workflow to onboard shows I haven’t started when they hit premier date concurrent with the Continue Watching queue? it doesn’t seem like there’s a way I can maintain both lists by date.

Hi,
In general, if you still didn’t watch the show, add it to your watchlist. They will show up at the calendar and at Start Watching. Since that section is ordered by release date, you should see them first once they release.

Once you have watched it, it will show up in continue watching until you are up to date with it. It will also be automatically removed from the watchlist after you watch 1 episode.
Then, if new episodes release, it will automatically come back to the continue watching, until you are up to date again.

If you want to see all shows you have watched, you can find them in the progress section:

That section is divided into 4 categories: Up to date, Ended, In Progress and Dropped.

Shows should only be added back to the watchlist on 2 cases: You want to rewatch them or you want to undrop them. In any case, they will be automatically removed again once you have watched 1 episode.

Alright, a concrete example:

Let’s say I want to watch the Star Trek series in order by release date. I add all of them to my watchlist and sort by release date. Once I get to The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager, the shows begin to overlap; Season 1 Episode 1 of Deep Space Nine debuts before Season 7 Episode 12 of The Next Generation; this again happens when Season 1 Episode 1 of Voyager airs in mid-season 3 of Deep Space Nine.

Currently, I’m not prompted to add DS9 or VOY to my queue. That is the behavior I’m trying to work out. Currently, I’m only prompted to watch the next episode of only shows I’ve begun.
