Asked to Rate When it's Already Rated!

Is this a bug?

This appears on my Home Page.

I am being asked to rate things that, as can been seen, are already rated.

When I click on the top right hand X I then get asked

But I don’t want to stop being asked.

Something is wrong here. If an item is already rated then I should not be asked.

If I forget to rate an item then great, ask me (as I have opted to do).

Same for me.

As a ‘free’ user I can’t create a topic, so I’m glad someone has.

Just watched an episode of Silo, rated it, went to the Trakt webpage and it asked me to rate it again.

And again with an episode of The Librarians: The Next Chapter.

Forgot to say I also get the Stop Asking question.

i noticed it would ask independent of the platform. so if you’d already rated and dismissed the rating prompt on the mobile but then opened the browser on either your phone or desktop it would appear with the rating prompt at the bottom.

@changnoi this might be what you’re seeing as well?

I don’t use the app, only the browser.

So I can’t comment on if it happens across platforms.

even with the browser it still pops up if you go from phone browser to pc browser. or chrome on phone to firefox on phone. the point is that it will always do it if its a new location

Looks like it happens for Shows and Movies.

This is what it did to me just now.

I rated the movie, went to the homepage of the website and…it says ‘thoughts’…is that asking me to rate an already rated item?

Or is that box something else?

@support

So it’s still happening, but this time a different message.

It says ‘Rate your experience’, but this time no stars are filled in.

I presume that this is related to rating the entire tv show (but doesn’t explicitly say that), as I haven’t put a rating on the entire show.

Still waiting for @support to reply to the previous question as to what the wording in that box means, so maybe an answer can be provided for this one too…is it to rate the entire tv show?

It would be useful to have an entry in the Support-Features section detailing what these boxes mean…and what other items on other pages mean.

Hi,
That prompt should only show up if you still haven’t rated the item. The team is working on a fix for that issue, as you can see here: Pull requests · trakt/trakt-web. Thanks for reporting.

Thank you very much @Sonply

Look forward to the fix :folded_hands:

Thanks.

Can you tell me if the prompt relates to just an item, a movie or show episode, as opposed to being a rating for the show as a whole?

Using the API, some ratings are missing. This happened a few days ago also. Some of the shows I already rated no longer are in the API responses pulled from the servers, but they are rated on trakt web.

So, since there was no reply from the ‘management’…it appears this specific rating relates to the series itself.

But, why are we being asked to rate a series before actually watching the first season?

I’ve just been asked to rate the Anna Pigeon series having only watched 3 episodes.

They did reply!

The ratings prompt only shows up for shows and movies. For shows, it shows up after 3 episodes(if you are watching them within a week), but you can dismiss it if you are not ready to rate. We also show the prompt after watching a “finale” type of episode.
We don’t have that for episodes specifically at the moment.

Also, the fix for rating items when you already rated should already be merged, please check if that is still happening.

Am I misunderstanding your reply?

I reported this because I am getting this show up for episodes, which I always rate.

Hi,
Currently, we only prompt to rate shows and movies. We do have plans to prompt for episodes, but only for self contained cases as you can see here: Add support for episodes to the ratings prompt · Issue #1476 · trakt/trakt-web

No they didn’t.

I asked specifically about a specific rating box.

That box was not asking to rerate something previously rated, it was asking to rate an entire series…therefore different.

Sonply did reply after your post replying to my post.

Anyway…there is now an understanding that two different rating boxes can appear. It would however be useful for the wording on them to be more specific to describe what is being asked, rather that ‘rate your experience’ or ‘what do you think’… something simple like ‘rate the series overall’.
