One of the main things I do on Trakt is write capsule reviews of what I see from time to time. But when I do them and want to share them on Facebook:
There’s no obvious “button” to do so (eventually figured out I had to click on the date under my comment and share the resulting page
The “preview” of my post on Facebook is not very appealing (see examples on mobile and web below)
I would have thought having lots of people using Trakt to share their reviews then sharing those on other media would be one of the most effective ways to build the userbase… But also I would just like the link to be more appealing - share my star rating, for example? And the director & main actor info perhaps?
I’ll add a more obvious sharing button to copy the link, good idea.
On the layout, that is mostly determined by Facebook or the social platform. We set a bunch of metadata and they use various parts to construct the rich preview. Do you have some examples from other apps and how their info is presented?
Here’s one example. Not perfect but the FB version is a little better. IMDB does it worse…
Maybe just fine-tune the metadata a little? Or give users a preview of the metadata and let them optionally edit it if they don’t like what they see before sharing?
Thanks for the examples, I should be able to update the title to include your rating if available. I don’t think we can allow editing since all these sites just crawl the website. In fact, the title update will need to be a global thing that applies to the Trakt webpage itself for a comment.
