Dexter New Blood incorrectly shown as available in my streaming service

The show Dexter New Blood has a Play button in Trakt suggesting I can watch it with PrimeVideo. Maybe that’s the case in other countries, but certainly not in mine (The Netherlands).

NB: JustWatch and TMDB correctly don’t show it as available.

Personally I tend to take the stream buttons with a pinch of a salt.
What region is your account set for?

I reported this for Dexter and other TV Shows. But nothing is done by Trakt to fix it.

It seems the data is being sent back from JustWatch, which is why we have it listed at Trakt. We run a nightly process to sync any updates (new or removed links), but ultimately we just use the data provided by JustWatch and we don’t customize beyond that.

LetterBoxd and TMDB also get their data from JustWatch and they do correctly show the info. I have no knowledge of the JustWatch API but it seems like you don’t filter the data on the user’s country setting.

This show is available on Prime in some countries, but not in mine (The Netherlands). I know it will be available on an other service, namely “NPO Start”.

I just pushed a bug fix and Dexter: New Blood is correctly updated now. What happened was JustWatch initially had links for Netherlands, but later removed them. Normally they keep the country, but just return 0 links. However, they actually removed the country all together in the API so I needed to account for that and remove the links when the country isn’t found. It seems to be a newer change since before it didn’t work like this.

I’ll also point out we handle things a bit differently on Trakt. When viewing the main show, we’ll display show level watch now links if we have them. If we don’t, we display links for the first episode. That can account for some differences you see on Trakt as well.
