Who is eligible for the referral program?
Any active VIP on a yearly plan will get a referral link.
How will I get notified?
We’ll email you every time a referral signs up for VIP. The email will give you a running total of how many referrals and free months you’ve earned.
Does this affect my VIP renewal date?
No, this extends your VIP expiration by one month. Your renewal date at PayPal, Stripe, Apple, or Google remains the same.
October 3, 2024 update
The program has changed a little bit to counter abuse by some Trakt VIP members. Instead of an immediate free month, it will be applied after the referred user’s first payment.
Does the person need to sign up for VIP with a payment method or is it literally just creating an account? If it’s the latter you might as well disable it right now because that will definitely be abused
I think they meant wether the person being referred needs to get VIP in order to get your reward. Not to person who spreads the link to get people to sign up.
And I agree. I’ve never been a fan of those referral programs. Because they are just getting abused with alt accounts and VPN and stuff.
If they’re getting free vip they can just cancel after the month is over. Or remove the fake account.
But I don’t know. Maybe I misunderstood it hahaha.
The person being referred needs to enter payment info to get the free initial month. They would then be charged after 30 days for the year.
The person with the referral link needs to be a paying VIP member in order to receive their free month. We will monitor this and adjust when the free month is credited if people abuse the referral system.
I understand completely. I’m glad there is a referral program. And I am glad their are rules. Because because like to abuse them rules and unfortunately that’s just the way life is so I’m very glad that we have the system in place I am looking forward to using this program Cheers to all have a great wonderful day or night
