When V3 was first released, I found it a significant adjustment from the previous calendar. After spending time exploring the new interface, I discovered that several of the features I relied on are still there—they’re just much less obvious than before. It took quite a bit of searching and experimenting to find options such as the advanced filters and the ability to save them as defaults.
Now that I’ve found them, they’ve made the Releases page much more useful for my workflow.
For example, I’ve filtered my Releases calendar to only show:
- Australia
- United States
- Canada
- United Kingdom
- New Zealand
This removes a huge amount of content that isn’t relevant to me and makes the page much easier to browse.
The Premiere and Finale badges are also a great addition. During busy television seasons they immediately draw my attention to the important releases.
I do have two suggestions that I think would make the feature even stronger.
1. Additional Release Filters
At the moment the Releases page shows every episode releasing during the selected period, with Premieres and Finales highlighted.
For users like me who maintain a TV calendar, I’d love optional filters such as:
- Series Premieres
- Season Premieres
- Series Finales
- Season Finales
- Regular Episodes
This would allow users to focus on the releases that matter most to them instead of scrolling through every regular weekly episode.
2. Bring Back the Calendar Grid View
The previous calendar grid was my preferred way to browse upcoming television.
The current card view looks great visually, but I found the old calendar grid much easier to scan an entire week at a glance.
It would be fantastic if users could choose between:
- Calendar Grid View (the previous layout)
- Card View (the current V3 layout)
That way users could simply choose whichever view best suits their workflow.
Overall, while I still prefer the previous calendar, discovering the advanced filters and saved defaults has made V3 much more usable for me. I think adding a few more release filters and bringing back the calendar grid as an optional view would make it an even stronger experience.
