First episode of season is hidden

Short description of the issue

  • The first episode of the season is hidden

Detailed description with additional context about the workflow

  • Loaded the page, and can not scroll left of episode 2

Screenshots and other visual aids

Have you tried tapping the last episode instead of trying to scroll?

If I tap any episode it opens a right sided window which gives me access to all the episodes.

No idea why you can’t see episode 1, it shows for me in both portrait and landscape.

What happens if you press on the -1 EPS?

Clicking on the “-1” opens up a right side panel with all the episodes for the season. [first screen shot]

I tested it out with another show and window size. Below a certain window width, the section is just a subsection list of episodes with the -/+ on either side to indicate more. [second screenshot]

On a wide enough window, the section becomes sideways scroll-able, but not really. It still utilizes the “-/+” instead of actually having it loaded via scroll. [third screenshot shows the sideways scrollbar below the episodes; not sure how to record video of attempting to scroll]

I’ve already highlighted an issue with screen size to support.

@Sonply is this issue related to the one I emailed you/support about?

Hi,
This is behaving as intended. Once you open a page of a show you already watched, the system will scroll you to the last episode you watched if the season has more than 7 episodes.
We show up to 7 episodes there, the rest, is hidden behind the full view of the seasons.
For example:

You can see that episode 150 is highlighted(the last one I watched), and there are 145 hidden episodes. To see all episodes, you just need to click on the tag (-145) or on the “seasons”.
We made it that way because when you go to the page of a show you watched, you are probably more interested in knowing what is next one you need to watch, not all the previous ones.

This was also made this way, without the scrollbar, because it was requested by users that we removed the horizontal scrolling.

I personally would rather have the section scroll-able than need to select season, then pop up a separate card for the full list.

But I can understand the choice not to. However, right now, the section does get a scroll bar above a certain width; even without anything to scroll. When the scroll bar is present, it does also react to trackpad scrolling, which makes it feel like the other episodes should be scroll-able to access.

May I ask what browser did you use when you got the scroll bar and what was the resolution?
We do show it if the device has trackpad since it makes sense on those cases.

I tried on both Chrome and Firefox on Mac. The screen total is ‘2560 x 1440’

When I shrink the window width to only fit <= 6 episodes, the scroll bar does not appear. Once I make it wide enough for 7 episodes, then there is a scrollbar; and it stays at the 7 episodes as I make it wider.

Actually, it looks like the scroll bar only shows up in Firefox. The “not showing all episodes” was what I had tested in Chrome. For Chrome, the scroll bar does not seem to appear at any width.

The issue with the chips showing up even with the scrollbar should be fixed soon, as can be seen in this pull request: fix(episode): make the season episode rail scroll with a trackpad by vladjerca · Pull Request #3391 · trakt/trakt-web · GitHub
