↩️ Free Users Redirect to V3

Guys, they really don’t care. There just aren’t enough users disappointed with V3 to make them reconsider. And now, with all the new users coming from TV Time, they’ll probably see the influx as validation instead.

Forget it. We lost this battle. At this point, we either adapt or find another app.

Where’s their revenue coming from? You’re a VIP, are you still gonna be resubscribing for what they’re giving us with V3 aka Lite?

I certainly won’t be. There’s nothing worth paying for with V3/Lite like what we got with V2.

That’s why they increased the price, if they lose half the amount of VIPs then they don’t lose money because of the price increase. If anything, it would be better for them as they don’t lose money but it will be less strain on their servers.

Netflix is a good example, they’ve been losing subscribers over the years but end up making more money because they increase the price often

You actually have to put out a product worth paying for, for that to work. Trakt has made their product objectively worse for the power-user/VIPs that have been with them for 10+ years and enjoyed what V2 offered them. V3 aka Lite doesn’t come close to offering the same features that we got with V2.

They’ve been hemorrhaging VIP subscribers for months now, and have tried offering a discount on 2yr subscriptions to try and retain subscribers. Not going to work unless they improve the product, but their comments on the transition to V3 indicate they don’t plan bringing back many more of the features we used to get with V2.

They won’t live on VIP revenue anymore. Look out for them to sell user data or bring in ads in the future.

I can’t get back to v2 view either. If they don’t provide option to switch to v2 then I’ll not be subscribing again.

They’re counting on the fresh meat from all the new TV Time users here to get their pound of flesh from. Trakt will become more of a social media site than a website where you could store and access your data.

The biggest joke to me is that Kevin states in his monthly “look at how awesome we are self-appreciation post” misleading things like they’ve fixed and migrated items like Plex, but clearly he (or any of the “support” staff) never even bothers to read in the Plex Sync thread to comprehend that Plex Sync isn’t working for many. He simply doesn’t care.

Not once has he addressed the fact you can’t filter or sort your own Library. Or add or delete items.

Both of these items are things still listed on the “benefits” page of paying to be a VIP.

I am one of the few who against my better judgment decided to take them up on the extension at the 50% price a few months back at which time they promised V2 would still remain.

I am definitely going to be pursuing a chargeback at this point unless I start seeing some meaningful actual real development and fixing of the cr@p that simply is missing or doesn’t work.

android app still can’t sort lists correctly nor can it have sorting stick after you change it like it can for iOS app.

Yeah, my renewal date is coming up in about two weeks and I don’t see myself keeping this subscription running. Pretty much everything I liked using Trakt for has been removed or made tedious in the new version, and the response to all the constructive feedback from the VIPs and power users is, frankly, impolite. Apparently, we’re all just using it wrong and don’t see the brilliance of the new version.

It’s not just that I dislike the design. I could get used to it, I use plenty of apps that I think don’t look good but where the functionality is right. But V3 feels just so incredibly unfinished and not thought through. Apparently, when creating V2 there was at least one person who had a really good grasp of UX and UI design. This is sorely lacking from V3. It feels like they started a rewrite – fair enough! – but decided to not only go live, but also shut down the previous version, when they were only about 10% done with the implementation.

I understand that the old codebase was difficult to maintain and that it’s sometimes good and nice to do away with some old crud. But refactoring code can be done without breaking the design, and a redesign can be done without breaking the functionality of the old interface. V3 has barely any relation to the Trakt I know and signed up for apart from the name.

I’m grateful for the time I got to spend here, but I’ll be exporting my data and looking for something new…
