I keep seeing vociferously condeming v3. I tried Trakt BRIEFLY about a year ago, and I noped out of it because I found it too cluttered, too crowded, and poorly laid out. I stayed with TVTime which I was using. I recently came back to Trakt for reasons I wont’ get into, and I found this nice new, clean interface, with few distractions, and easy to digest layout, and I loved it.
Then I see all these posts of people who hate it. Fine, you have your reasons, and for you, they are valid reasons I am sure. For FOR ME…v3 is so much better. It alone is why I have moved in, and it is the reason I decided to get VIP.
I have hit a few small bugs (just recently there was a TV episode I could not mark as watched, it just wouldn’t take, but I got past it by advancing to a later episode, and accepting the “mark all previous episodes” option…so I’ve rolled with it), they just haven’t been deal breakers, and I know they are still working out and rolling out features and fixes.
I 100% appreciate you don’t, that’s a legitimate opinion, but so is mine. Yes, it may be a underdevlopped. It’s developed enough to meet my immediate needs, so I am happy to use it while they fill the gaps (and I do want them to fill those gaps), but right now I have access to v2, and you couldn’t pay me to go there.
For some people simplicity and minimalism trump all else.
I prefer seeing lots of well-organized information in one place and being able to track, categorize, sort, and view data in a variety of ways.
Maybe Trakt has decided to cater to the former type of person, and they’re hoping to attract enough new users of that type that it doesn’t matter if they lose the old users.
That’s the thing. For people like you, who would probably be okay with pen and paper to write down what they’re watching, the V3 is perfect. For power users, who are really into movies and TV and are technical enough to take advantage of the functionality Trakt used to offer, V3 is simply unusable.
I think it’s visually attractive. There’s just missing functions from V2. Basic stuff like writing credits and guest stars. But there’s room for useless sections like Extras and Popular lists?
So it might be me right… But I get this weird feeling (actually had this feeling for a while now) about certain people having an alt account in here… Because certain people became awfully quiet while a few became so loud preaching the same thing that nobody else seems to agree with.
