Heads up for watchers of this series. I opened a support ticket. You might want to hold off tracking your watches until this is fixed. Tagging @Sonply since he’s helpful with resolving these sorts of issues.

How are we handling season 3 of Interview with the Vampire? Or is it season 1 of The Vampire Lestat? TMDB removed season 3 from Interview with the Vampire and added a new series for The Vampire Lestat. We cannot import The Vampire Lestat to Trakt because it is missing IMDB and TVDB ids. I opened a ticket with TVDB support and they say it is one series not two so cannot get an ID from that site. IMDB seems to be handling it the same way - one series not two. I am holding off on marking episode 1 of the new season watched until this gets resolved at Trakt.

TMDB did the same for American Idol. They are such a pain. My main reason for replying is to ask how you got a response from TVDB. I have tickets created and they have sat there.

I don’t know why I got an immediate reply. All I did was open a ticket and cite a couple sources backing up why this new season should be considered a separate series.

I wouldn’t expect much out of TheTVDB either since they wrongfully removed my entry for I Think You’re Overthinking It, even though I provided enough info to get it on there, but no, according to them, ‘Your series (I Think You’re Overthinking It) has been removed by a moderator for the following reason: Web Series minimum requirements have not been met. If you would like to dispute this, please make a support ticket.’ 'Tis not the first I’ve had issues with their site since their users keep screwing up my tracked series as I so notice in TV Time.

I’ve imported the new TMDB page and merged the data from Season 3 with it.

@Sonply I think it’s great you “solved” this so quickly.

But, is this really the best way? TheTVDB, IMDb and the Wiki page all refer to it as Season 3 of the original series.

Nearly all media outlets refer to it as Season 3, e.g. :

Once again, similar to other recent new seasons, it’s only markets where AMC+ exists that refer to this as a new series and a first season.

It really seems like we desperately need to allow users the choice like Plex has of allowing us to use either TheTVDB or TMDB for tracking purposes.

I put in one for a chinese series someone here needed to get that on tmdb. They removed it saying i put in the wrong country of origin. Ticket still not looked at. It’s a pain when these sites have their own crazy rules that they can’t agree on.

Could you please do it for V2 too ? (I know there’s only 3 weeks left on V2, but i do intend to use the remaining time to the fullest)

Yes but it has not been merged with Interview with the vampire on V2 (only one visible season)

I think you misunderstood what I said.
I merged the data from the Season 3 of Interview with the Vampire - Trakt, with season 1 of The Vampire Lestat - Trakt. That means that anyone who has marked that season as watched when it was still in the Interview with the Vampire page, had their data moved to The Vampire Lestat.
This was done to match how TMDB lists that show.
