First of all, this isn’t a request to rebuild or replace the Trakt Forums inside the app.
The current forums already work well. My suggestion is simply to make them easier to discover and access, so they feel like a natural extension of the Trakt experience rather than a separate destination.
At the moment, many users either don’t know the forums exist or rarely visit them because they have to leave the app and switch to the website. Even though there’s already a way to access the forums from the app, it’s easy to miss because it’s only available in one place and isn’t presented when users are most likely to need it.
The idea
Instead of relying on a single entry point, make the forums easier to discover by surfacing them naturally throughout the app where they’re actually relevant.
This doesn’t require rebuilding the forums or redesigning the app. It could even be introduced gradually with small improvements.
Some examples:
- Make the existing Forums entry more visible or easier to find.
- Open forum pages inside the app instead of switching to an external browser.
- Add contextual shortcuts where appropriate, such as:
- Report a Bug
- Suggest a Feature
- Search the Forums
- Before submitting a bug report or feature request, encourage users to search the forums first. This could help users find existing discussions, reduce duplicate posts, and save time for both users and the team.
The goal isn’t to place forum links everywhere, but to make them available at the moments when users are already looking for help, reporting an issue, or sharing feedback.
Why I think this would benefit users
- More people would discover the forums.
- Participating in discussions and sharing feedback would become much easier.
- Users could find existing answers before creating duplicate topics.
- The overall Trakt experience would feel more connected.

- Increased community engagement.
- More bug reports and feature requests from users who might never visit the website otherwise.
- Fewer duplicate support questions and feature requests.
- Better visibility for announcements, updates, and ongoing discussions.
I believe this is a relatively small improvement that could have a meaningful impact. The forums are already a valuable part of the Trakt community—they just deserve to be a little more visible and easier to reach from within the app.
