As the topic suggests, I was wondering if there is any chance for us to receive a notification when a show we’re watching gets canceled so that we can be informed?
Another idea could be to add a new tab dedicated only to TV shows and movies news. That way, by filtering the updates there, we could check the news about the shows and movies we’re watching—or about shows and movies in general—and find out what’s happening, what got canceled, or which ones were delayed.
I’ve been wondering if this already existed because I use a similar app that links to Trakt and it usually notifies me if a show I’ve watched has ended or has been cancelled, but I never actually get a notification from Trakt.
i like that idea. The problem is not trakt or if we can have it. If the information is there trakt can implement. The point is that TMDB does not have a cancelled show or in hiatus. I think the put these labels way late.
I believe it was 3 days ago I got a notification from the TVST app (Tv show tracker) saying that, Gold Rush: White water changed its status to Ended. So are you saying it’s not possible for Trakt to do this? Btw I believe these notifications are only upon opening the TVST app and is one of the main reasons I still use this app along with Trakt.
no, i’m saying trakt can absolutely do this IF tmdb includes that on the site. Trakt gets data from TMDB, so if tmdb does not have the rapid fast update of the show was cancelled yesterday, trakt will never display that.
Apparently the other app has another provider or using something else.
Great, thanks I figured he got it from Trakt, since the app is tied to My Trakt account, but I guess not. I’ll see if the dev will provide me with that information. May not, but it doesn’t hurt to ask.
This is exactly what I’m talking about. Sending notifications like this shouldn’t be that hard. Trakt already writes to the show when it’s canceled or when something else happens; it just needs to send us the notification.
Yes exactly, I don’t see why it wouldn’t be easy to do especially if a fee app can do it.
well it seams that i’m totally wrong on this. Trakt has the data, i was just visiting the progress page=>select libray , to see if i have a gap in a show and haven’t marked an episode as collected and i saw some really nice overlays.
so the info is there and apparently correct, so Justin needs to add a notification about these, i love the “returns next season”!

I agree, I would like to get all these as notifications, and it doesn’t seem like it’s a hard request to add, @justin can this feature be added to notifications please!!
