When rewatching a series, you typically don’t watch all episodes at the same time, but start a rewatch and finish that rewatch over time. I’m not sure if that was missed in the development of the rewatch mechanic of series in this platform but it desperately needs to be changed. You typically watch one movie in a sitting or a day, but you don’t necessarily do that for a series, particularly if it’s a very long series that you enjoyed, for example the 7 season series “The West Wing”. I submit that the developers of the Trakt mobile apps and the API that Showly uses (I assume) institute that. Thank you for your attention.
Hi,
We do have a way for you to rewatch a show and add it to your continue watching section so you can track your rewatch.
To do that, please enable the “rewatch” feature here: Trakt Web: Settings
Then go to a show you just started rewatching and use that option.
You will then be able to choose the episode you have just rewatched and want to start your rewatch from.
The show will then go back to your “continue watching” section:
There, you can mark it again, as if it was a new show, preserving the data of your first watch.
Also, make sure you have “multiple plays” activated in your settings here: Trakt Web: Settings
Addition to suggestion have possibllty to rewatch just individual seasons . Fex i what to rewatch certain season of Ncis: los angels , but don’t need to start over from season 1. I would like to choose season nr. Fex 11,13:, 9 and 7 just to give a exemple
Where is this available in the Trakt mobile app on Android or on an app like Showly which now shows it is managed by Trakt as well? I don’t typically go through the inconvenience of going to the mobile site or desktop site for something that should be conveniently available on the mobile app.
Hi,
This is currently only in the website since it’s still in the preview section for users to test.
Thank you. I should have been clearer in my original message that I fully knew that the website had a rewatch feature and was more specifically referring to mobile app behavior. I don’t think it’s realistic that a viewer would do this all at one time (screenshot of Android app below), and the mobile app behavior should reflect that from day one of an apps release, in my opinion. Disappointed, but I appreciate your time.
You can add individual episodes as rewatched in the episode page too, it’s not just the whole show, and this is available in the apps to.
I appreciate your suggestion, but that’s not ideal on the mobile app when it should just reappear in your continue watching when starting a rewatch of the series and and you have you go through to the season and then to the episode and then to watch again and then say yes. Again, it’s disappointing, but I understand it’s not something you can personally control. I just will look elsewhere for more functionality there.
If you set the show as rewatching on web, it should also show up in the continue watching section in the app. Is that not happening?
Ok, yes, it does do that when I trigger a rewatch on the web and watch the first episode of the start of the rewatch, it does do that on the official app, but it should be able to be done on the app by itself and not have to require going to the web to initiate it. Also, because I use Showly, which is an app also managed by Trakt, it doesn’t show up at all there even when doing a syncing. Can you please forward this to those that manage the official Trakt app and Showly to have this be possible to initiate in both?
Hi,
Since this is still a feature we are testing, for now you cannot set it as rewatching in the app, however, this should be possible once that feature is not in the preview option anymore.
As for showing up on Showly, I’ll verify with the developer if that can be added.
I sincerely appreciate forwarding my feedback. Also, along with that, it would be nice if they changed the format of how series are shown on continue watching and calendar in both the app and website to show in a vertical image instead of horizontal, as shown for both movies and shows below in the screenshots. Thanks again.
