Roku TV Advice?

Not sure if this is the correct forum to post this. What are members thoughts on Roku UHDTVs? Are they a good invest investment for our pockets?

I have a TCL Roku TV and at first it was great but it slowed down very quickly. Now it has connection issues and everything runs slow. I’m actually thinking about buying a stand alone Roku, plugging it into the Roku TV and just using the TV as a TV.

My recommendation for anyone thinking about getting a smart TV, don’t. Just get a really nice dumb TV and hook up a streaming box. If you get a higher end Roku you can even have TV power and volume built into the remote. I do with Roku would take over for Logitech and build a universal remote, but in the meantime Roku’s offering does enough.

Could it be overheating? I have a Roku express and it can heat up if you are not careful where you put it. And TVs can get pretty warm sometimes.

Welcome @oppy1984, I think the problem with ALL these Smart devices is that, most of them, if not all, do little or no updates to their internal bios/software. And this includes Smart-Blu-Rays. I had this happen to me once on my second Samsung SmartTV. I ended up doin’ a manufacture restore. Funny thing was, the picture looked better when I restored it than when I first got it home! Now, ain’t that a b****
