Instead of checking off movies and/or TV shows under “types” on filters, this would instead be listed below the actor/director/writer etc… buttons with the added “specials” which would include anything that’s not a feature film or a tv show. This would include behind the scenes, short films, talk shows, etc… This would make it much easier to filter out movies and tv shows from all of the other stuff and make actor and director pages less cluttered.
Question, is there metadata for this to be done in this way?
The metadata might be a little bit messy but I believe that there are certain guidelines that would qualify a movie/tv show. So far I have this:
- A talk show would not be considered a tv show/movie
- Anything in the documentary category would not be considered a movie
- Anything under 40 minutes would not be considered a movie
- Not sure what to do about stand-up specials since they do not have their own genre but I believe they should have a separate category.
So on the drop down menu in the picture below there would be separate “types” for talk shows, documentaries, and other (for those things under 40 minutes), and maybe one for stand-ups but that could also just stay under movies.
