Shared list shows up empty

Apologies, if this might be a stupid question. I have created a new list and sent it to a friend, who is not a member of Trakt. When she is opening the link in her browser, there is an nearly empty page with the title of the list, but no contents. I have set the list to public, and my profile is public too. When I tested my older lists with private mode browser, they show also up empty, see screenshot attached. When I open the page while logged in, the list items show up as expected.

Did I miss a setting, or is it a bug?

I’m suspecting it’s because the link to the list defaults to going to the app.trakt.tv site instead of the old version.

Also, FWIW when I go to your profile and allow the site to change to the default new “app” version I can’t see the list either despite being logged in.

However if I go to https://trakt.tv/users/wellenform/lists/best-series-seasons-of-2025?sort=rank,asc then I can see it fine. But that link won’t work unless logged in…

Thanks for taking the time to look into it. I am not sure, what you meant with “old version”, could you explain a little bit? The link I sent to my friend was this one:
https://trakt.tv/users/wellenform/lists/33339267

And, more important, do you think it’s a feature or a bug? I would expect a public list to show up also for not logged in users, or is it not working like this with Trakt?

If you’re not logged in, which I’m guessing your friend isn’t, the link will be changed by default to take a user to the “new” website which can be identified with it becoming a app.trakt.tv url. There’s no circumventing that from what I can see.

Yeah, now I see that the url is changing to app.trakt.tv/…. When you say there is no circumventing from that, does that mean that my lists are basically not viewable for people who are not logged in? And if yes, is this a feature or a bug? Sorry, if I am slow in understanding.

Pretty sure yes, that there’s no way of people seeing them without logging in.

As to whether it’s a feature or intended behavior I can’t really comment. I’m personally assuming it’s intentional unfortunately. The same way forcing it to the new app.trakt.tv link is requiring users to jump through hoops to achieve what was once easily accomplished.

The bug is actually that seasons and episodes are not showing up in Lists on V3, yet. It is planned and coming back soon: Display seasons and episodes in a personal list · Issue #1481 · trakt/trakt-web · GitHub
