Please let us click on the ominous statistic numbers present on every item on the website for a more detailed breakdown:
Voting count
Play count
Collection count
These all lack transparency and are especially annoying and confusing on less popular or upcoming items. I’ve seen so many things with less plays than votes or sometimes just want to know who watched something or voted similar. On past iterations some of that info was visible for everyone (on the item page) but I think at some point scrapped due to performance/caching concerns? Imho this should be reconsidered since it can also just be occasional refreshes on dedicated pages.
The counts can be added with varying detail or stats. Eg. votes could include a demographic or geographic breakdown alas IMDB The Shawshank Redemption (1994) - User ratings - IMDb and watches show watch sources.
The collection is the least relevant stat out of all of these but I would certainly wish the vote and play count display to be improved.
Good idea and I am starting to work on a stats page for movies, shows, seasons, and episodes. Besides IMDB, do you have any other examples or stats you like from other sites?
I kind of like the score history example from TMDB @sbstnhp posted but other than that I can’t recall anything that made an impression on me I guess. AniList does quite a few stat things but that might be a bit too nerdy imho.
Not really rating related but for the watched stats it would be nice to see for shows how many people are up to date or which season or episode most people are at? A bit more sophisticated than https://myanimelist.net/anime/13331/Jormungand__Perfect_Order/stats I guess.
Oh, that’s a display bug with the light mode theme. Dark knight works properly. I’ll get a fix for that soon and look into why some pages aren’t loading.
No to derail too much but you’ve changed the IMDB logo & rating link to directly access the dedicated IMDB rating page? While it sort off makes sense I’m not that big of a fan since this was the link I used to quickly get to the IMDB page. The proper backlink is still in the sidebar but obviously much less convenient. I feel like I’m probably not the only one seeing this as a nuisance? I count reviews and stuff also as part of the “rating” impression so the main page is more useful to me in that regard.
