Trakt gets a makeover!

They’ve also received feedback on their Twitter post and on their Reddit post about the makeover, both have also been overwhelmingly negative.

As I said earlier, I think they need to do a user wide poll. Let people vote if they like the changes, hate the changes, or are indifferent to the changes. You can’t just assume that all 9 million people who haven’t bothered to voice their thoughts here agree that they hate it. At best you can assume they are indifferent to it. The casual user probably doesn’t even know these forums exist. Of course someone who kinda likes it or just simply doesn’t care what the color on the page is isn’t going to bother coming here to say they like it, that’s just freaks like me lol.

I don’t think you can use “9 million users” as a barometer. I’m sure there are many inactive accounts on Trakt just like there are on every online platform.

Not saying that there shouldn’t be a poll, though—there definitely should.

sigh ok, what nobody seems to be understanding is OF COURSE THE REPLIES ARE NEGATIVE. People generally do not go out of their way to voice their positive opinions unless they are really, really passionate about whatever it is. Trakt has 9 million members. a fraction of those are people who use this site at the level the people in this forum do. There’s 100 people in here crying about the logo, but there’s 8 million + who either like the logo or simply don’t care what the logo looks like, but they’re not going to come to these forums and say that, because they don’t effing care Basing the user response on the replies and not some kind of user wide poll would be stupid.

I’m using the only number recently available from Trakt, but I’m happy to say it’s only 7 or 8 million. It doesn’t change my point.

I’m indifferent to both font and color changes.

I don’t mind purple at all nor the new font.
I think the hate is a bit extreme :see_no_evil:
The trakt 1.0 to 2.0 was something else though. That was totally different site. This is not so big if you ask me.

I like the new logo.

And totally true. The complainers will always be the loudest. You never really hear from the people who are good with everything.
Also let’s not forget how easy it is for anyone with a different opinion to get canceled right away :see_no_evil:

I have an idea, everyone cancel your VIP and post a screenshot, maybe that will get the devs attention ;D

To much purple… not the best color for links in a website. simple black our dark grey is much better.

Well after a few days I gotta say I still dislike purple as design choice. Never liked the colour. I tried giving it a shot - it just isn’t my thing.
At first I couldn’t get my head around why next to my colour dislike it also looks weird in my eyes, but now I think it is this ‘used link’-connection in my brain.
Since like ever and especially back in the days clicked links get a purple look and because of this I think the site gives me this ‘old website with every link clicked’ vibe. It doesn’t look modern in a way.
And the purple overkill in dark mode is still hard on my eyes while reading.
I still hope for a colour choice, especially because I think some other colours and combinations might really look great.

Don’t really have a opinion on the logo. I don’t use the app much but I get why people mix it up with to-do apps and stuff.

Thanks a lot, saved me a lot of work.
Finally trakt looks nice again with the old styles.

Well I backtracked a bit on just going through the diffs and decided to do an initial release of the userstyle:

and the repository - GitHub - StylusThemes/Trakt-Depurplify: Trakt Depurplify - Reverse the Purplification of Trakt

Initial release is very unoptimized and literally just a copy of the old stylesheet from before the whole makeover and it works reliably for the most part, along with a few small fixes and hosting the font on the repo as well so that if trakt devs decide to delete the fonts it won’t matter.

I plan on now at least going and making an actual reversal theme myself but that will take a bit longer to do, and will actually be optimized, I’m possibly thinking about making it to where users can change colors as they please as well but that idea is TBD.

yes that is because people post only if they have negative. I posted that i liked it. Most of the users post (you can see that they have also posted for the first time) just to say don’t like it so the posts and number of posts really do not tell the overall truth.

Just to show that there are more people who aren’t a fan of this makeover, I’m posting.
Please Trakt add the option to revert back to the old theme. Not a big fan of the logo, the font, or the color. The old ones were perfect.

And what’s that BLACK CIRCLE I keep seeing when loading a page (or refresh). I thought I have a stroke… pretty scary!

Please please please keep the old logo.

Make it purple I don’t care but do not use this checkmark

The silence from the side of the Trakt devs is deafening

I’ll look into doing one soon possibly, I just prefer userstyles as that is what I am used to and have done for literally all my styles I’ve ever created and I don’t have a Mac nor use Safari at all so have never ran into an issue with userstyles but I’ll look into it but can’t promise a whole lot right now as my main focus will be on the userstyle version right now.

Sadly this is pretty much standard from the Trakt devs, their whole shtick has always been to release something the community doesn’t like, have major backlash on the change, then say they are listening to feedback and such and then never do or say anything from that point on about the change until the next big change happens that causes more backlash again.

looks ugly to me. I don’t recognize the website anymore.
It has lost his spirit…
Please reconsider this change.

Sincerly,
Achla.
