I hope that, given the majority of negative comments in this thread, Trakt will listen to its users and reverse its decision while there is still time
Well I’m about a quarter of the way through reversing all the changes at this time. I’m hoping to release version 1 of the reversal theme within a couple days.
But yes I do agree I really do hope that they just reverse this makeover themself as literally no one was wanting this so called makeover.
Sorry, but really not a fan.
I’m more sad about the logo than the other aspects of the change but I really dislike purple as the progress indicator.
Literally no one? don’t speak for me or other people. Trakt has over 9 million members, a few hundred people who take the time to complain shouldn’t worry them too much.
Most people will not bother to write on a forum their opinion on the redesign. It looks generic af!
if they’re not bothering to write their opinion on a forum, the either don’t care about the redesign that much, or they don’t care about Trakt that much
I would dare them to take a poll in the main page about the logo… and while at it one separate for the purple accent too.
What are you even talking about? The general feedback here has been incredibly negative. And that is the only feedback Trakt has.
They’ve also received feedback on their Twitter post and on their Reddit post about the makeover, both have also been overwhelmingly negative.
As I said earlier, I think they need to do a user wide poll. Let people vote if they like the changes, hate the changes, or are indifferent to the changes. You can’t just assume that all 9 million people who haven’t bothered to voice their thoughts here agree that they hate it. At best you can assume they are indifferent to it. The casual user probably doesn’t even know these forums exist. Of course someone who kinda likes it or just simply doesn’t care what the color on the page is isn’t going to bother coming here to say they like it, that’s just freaks like me lol.
I haven’t read any of the Reddit responses. I have seen some of the Twitter/X replies and between that platform and these forums, the majority of responses have been negative with a splash of likes and a few droplets of indifference. I hope Jeremy and Sean are paying attention.
I don’t think you can use “9 million users” as a barometer. I’m sure there are many inactive accounts on Trakt just like there are on every online platform.
Not saying that there shouldn’t be a poll, though—there definitely should.
sigh ok, what nobody seems to be understanding is OF COURSE THE REPLIES ARE NEGATIVE. People generally do not go out of their way to voice their positive opinions unless they are really, really passionate about whatever it is. Trakt has 9 million members. a fraction of those are people who use this site at the level the people in this forum do. There’s 100 people in here crying about the logo, but there’s 8 million + who either like the logo or simply don’t care what the logo looks like, but they’re not going to come to these forums and say that, because they don’t effing care Basing the user response on the replies and not some kind of user wide poll would be stupid.
I’m using the only number recently available from Trakt, but I’m happy to say it’s only 7 or 8 million. It doesn’t change my point.
Yeah, I totally understand your point(s). I’m on your side here. I absolutely hate this brand makeover, especially the colors. The “T” which stood for Trakt was a recognizable brand. This new logo has no identity.
I’m indifferent to both font and color changes.
I don’t mind purple at all nor the new font.
I think the hate is a bit extreme
The trakt 1.0 to 2.0 was something else though. That was totally different site. This is not so big if you ask me.
I like the new logo.
And totally true. The complainers will always be the loudest. You never really hear from the people who are good with everything.
Also let’s not forget how easy it is for anyone with a different opinion to get canceled right away
I have an idea, everyone cancel your VIP and post a screenshot, maybe that will get the devs attention ;D
To much purple… not the best color for links in a website. simple black our dark grey is much better.
Well after a few days I gotta say I still dislike purple as design choice. Never liked the colour. I tried giving it a shot - it just isn’t my thing.
At first I couldn’t get my head around why next to my colour dislike it also looks weird in my eyes, but now I think it is this ‘used link’-connection in my brain.
Since like ever and especially back in the days clicked links get a purple look and because of this I think the site gives me this ‘old website with every link clicked’ vibe. It doesn’t look modern in a way.
And the purple overkill in dark mode is still hard on my eyes while reading.
I still hope for a colour choice, especially because I think some other colours and combinations might really look great.
Don’t really have a opinion on the logo. I don’t use the app much but I get why people mix it up with to-do apps and stuff.
