I have to admit I also don’t like at all this new logo. Please reconsider.
The logo is fine i think, just remove the gradient and make it full red, make it a circle instead of a square and maybe a T (for Trakt) instead of a random check mark and it’d be perfect
I guess I’ll pile on… Not the best change. Seems to be the year of missed changes with the Ars Technica one going over poorly as well.
Same feedback as others:
The Trakt logo was distinctive, and now how does it relate more to Trakt vs. to-do list? Media is fun, not work.
While I like the idea of purple a lot, it doesn’t work as well as the red.
I would revert to classic style if given the choice in settings.
Unfortunately seems like a solution looking for a problem in this case?
Devs don’t respond and don’t care. Cancel your VIP in protest
I don’t think the purple is that great. Loved the Red color.
It’s confusing that only SOME things are changed to purple, and other things are left as red.
Example attached.
Here are some updates I just released:
- Dark Knight: lighter purple used for more contrast
- Font: reduce the boldness and fixed some spacing
- Logos: removed the top and loading animations
- Progress Bars: improved bar contrast and fixed some calculation bugs
- Progress: icons colors for watched (purple) + collected (green)
- Release Notes: purple badge
- VIP: red is used for VIP badges + related VIP buttons
- Watching Now: red is used for checkins + real time watching progress
- On Deck: fixed missing 1px border in dark knight mode so progress bar aligns better
- Colors: fixed various icon and action colors
Other notes:
- We are discussing the fonts and VIP selectable themes.
- iOS and Android apps are still in review for the new branding updates.
- We welcome all the feedback and good discussion. However, please keep it civil and don’t try and sabatoge the process.
- Of course we care and value your feedback. Trakt has been built over the years by communicating back and forth with you all.
- We’ll continue to fix bugs and issues.
Overall, I wish logo and branding didn’t change, but since we will just have to live with the change, the latest change to lighter purple in knight mode on fonts make A HUGE impact. that change was needed so it was easier to read.
VIP and watching now (checkins, scrobbling) are still red. This is intentional.
This was an animation that failed to load in some browsers. It’s been replaced with a more traditional loader.
This should be fixed now. It was an old bug actually.
Thanks Justin,
Although, I didn’t have any issues with the way it looked prior, appreciate you investing time into making some changes for those that did, whilst also taking into consideration changes that may suit other needs.
If you can give us a “Track Classic” theme of some sorts that lets us use the old color palette and fonts, that would be sweet.
Make the old logo usable for VIPs as well, if possible. Also, maybe give us the option to use the new circular logo from the branding page.
Choice is all we want.
The rest of the improvements are much appreciated as well.
EDIT: Now that I’ve explored a bit of the changes - the new shade of purple looks a little washed on the progress bars. Could that be corrected somehow.
Please allow for the old font to be used as a user choice.
The over use of purple can be lived with, but the new font is just awful and does not work at all.
It’s too big in places and too bold in others. It just doesn’t fit and ruins the site which has always been a fantastic design.
Thanks for the info. It doesn’t make sense, it will always look to me as if that single icon was forgotten, but at least now I know it was intentional.
My opinion is that if the red were to be changed, I’d make it a less saturated red.
Changing it to a this highly saturated purple hurts my eyes an equal amount to before.
I personally don’t like these very-saturated colours, either red or purple.
Thanks, appreciate the changes made and what’s to come with more customization!
However, the border’s still a bit messed up
I’ve honestly forgotten how it looked previously
- VIP themes would be welcome
- Alternate app icons for the iOS app would be welcome (think “Trakt Classic”)
I am REALLY not a fan of this change. The purple is quite tiring to the eyes, the font actively worse for readability. The logo… eh, I don’t care as much about, but the font and color changes are actively making me want to use website less. Did you even refer to any of the common accessibility/readability web guidelines when designing any of this? This is a direct UI/UX downgrade.
You might get through this time
