Don’t forget to Update the (Profile Image) to Purple too
Thanks, appreciate the changes made and what’s to come with more customization! ![]()
However, the border’s still a bit messed up
I’ve honestly forgotten how it looked previously ![]()
- VIP themes would be welcome
- Alternate app icons for the iOS app would be welcome (think “Trakt Classic”)
I am REALLY not a fan of this change. The purple is quite tiring to the eyes, the font actively worse for readability. The logo… eh, I don’t care as much about, but the font and color changes are actively making me want to use website less. Did you even refer to any of the common accessibility/readability web guidelines when designing any of this? This is a direct UI/UX downgrade.
You might get through this time ![]()
As a designer I can say, the contrast with the new logo is not good as the previous one, even with the latest changes.
Also the logo on top of the forums is not vertically aligned:

I also agree the comments above asking for a way to use the old one.
Relax people.
Feel free to go somewhere else, if you can find that.
People keep complaining, people with zero posts and zero partitipation in the community of Trakt, or even people without VIP.
I have bigger problems in life than the icon. Everybdy calm down.
Cool colour upgrade. Sad to lose the iconic T logo the move to a tick makes it seem like just another app that tracks progress rather than the T you know and recognise with that T logo.
The logo is very important to the brand.
I’m sure many are like me - happily paying for VIP for a long while and never really participating in the forums because nothing really bothered them prior, and they did not need any specific features. Just happily using the service and supporting it. If anything, the fact that people who never previously felt compelled to comment/contribute are suddenly all coming in to chime in should be all the more indication of how poorly received this change is.
It is precisely because there isn’t a different service that compares really, that people are so vocal about this change. It’s quite a radical redesign with no way (currently) to revert it, and from an accessibility standpoint it is a visual nightmare. There should have been an opt-in or A/B testing period, or at the very least it should have shipped with an easy way to swap to the previous design. Look at services like reddit, which have made many major redesigns for desktop that caused an uproar, but at least always gave the option to still use old.reddit for those who really cannot get on board.
Is it worth even commenting on your ‘bigger problems in life’ comment lol. There is ALWAYS a bigger problem, without fail. That doesn’t mean everything that’s not that important, in the grand scheme of things, should be dismissed.
I’m sure this post will get removed, but there’s already scripts you can apply with extensions like Violentmonkey and Stylus that revert the changes (for now):
I’ve warmed up to the changes honestly. Still think the logo is a bit odd but it is what it is. In the midst of absolutely brutal soulless “modern” redesigns that fuck up the whole site (imdb), this really was pretty minor.
Now pls add Dropped shows ![]()
I think you changed the hues of the collection/list buttons on the poster views to match the main pages? imho there isn’t enough contrast between them and they’re really bright - standing out a lot. I’d prefer them more muted…
also sad the text boldness is gone, on the regular mode it looks a lot more washed out now due to this.
Looked great before, even better now! Great color choice ![]()
I can confirm this happens to me too, with the last tile in the row being pushed down onto a line all to itself.
The changes that you have made today are well received by me, as it’s more subtle and easier on the eye. I think others have vocalised things far better than I could, and it’s because we are all very passionate about the Trakt product. I’ve been a VIP for 7 years, it’s something I use every single day and there’s nothing, nothing like it available from anyone else - Trakt does what it says on the box, and does it best. That’s why when it all changed, out the blue, and with the original in your face garish purple, and awkward looking fonts, it spoilt the product - I am delighted that this update today has made things look a lot better, to me, it’s night and day between the two and with the thought of VIP Theme options to user customisation, will be very welcome.
Ok, don’t cancel your VIP in protest, but Justin… next time a majority of your user base is having a collective brain aneurism don’t take 5 days and desperate pleas/threats to address it ![]()
The best thing you can do is turn the restore-old-theme into a VIP feature, and make use of iOS (and other…) app icon change features too…
I personally think the purple and font changes look okay… but the logo change makes literally no sense what-so-ever
Nice, the font bothered me most, but this small change already makes a decent improvement! Noticed instantly that it was all more pleasant to look at, when I opened the dashboard just now.
On the dashboard page I do still think a couple minor improvements could be made on the font area. Mainly under ‘Up Next’ the episode titles feel too big and in your face with the new font, same for show titles under ‘Upcoming Schedule’. I think either less boldness or a 0.5 to 1 font size reduction on those could already make this more comfortable on the eyes.
Also, regarding the logo: I personally would’ve gone for the alternative round version you have on the branding page as main logo, instead of the current square one. But that is just my personal preference and not something that will impact my enjoyment of Trakt much ![]()
Uh…but doesn’t the fact that folks who don’t even use the forum actually bothered to show up here to voice their opinion at least give light to the fact that new changes aren’t exactly a mighty fine success?

Oh and the spacing here could use some improvement. The ‘y’ in my username almost seems to collide with my join date.
