Trakt gets a makeover!

What is the name of the old font? I loved it. Would love to use it for future web design projects

I don’t mind the purple, if I’m being honest. I love purple as a color. It is way harder to read all the metadata with Dark Knight mode turned on, though. Maybe a thinner font would help? The ALL CAST & CREW words aren’t as bad, but the updated date/datasource text on the left-hand side are harder to read. As are usernames on comments. Maybe brighten the purple to match the playcount button? I don’t mind the purple for the progress bar under shows on the dashboard, and I actually like it a lot for the titles under the Upcoming Schedule section.

I don’t think I like the new logo as much, though. In fact, I’d say it’s entirely nondescript. I can see where you tried to keep it related to the old one with the white outline and three lines making up the checkmark, and it looks fine on the Check In button, but it works way better as some sort of secondary logo that enhances branding than as the primary logo which is supposed to lead branding. There are so many checklist or to-do apps that have similar-feeling logos. Knowing it’s related to the old one only matters if you know the old logo. Making this the primary is a pretty big miss for me.

In my bookmarks bar, the logo looks like a dirty smudge.

I don’t know why, but I’m not seeing any of the changes, either on the IOS app, nor the web version when accessed through my phone browser??

I love the redesign!

Completely agree with this, just feels like a change for the sake of it. The colour red was a core part of Trakt’s identity and brand which really should have stayed (along with the old logo).

Super excited about getting this new look on Android :+1:

So just ignore all the feedback and carry on regardless then? :man_facepalming:

Please listen to your users. Adding options for users to set their own preferences is key.

Forcing unliked changes that users have no control over is a great way to alienate users.

Allowing users to choose their own accent colour and icons is the better way to go about this.

Don’t become X.

Trakt has been one of the best user interfaces I’ve used in the last 10 years. Please keep it that way.

If they really should be going forward with this (which I hope not, regarding the amount of feedback there is) there will always be this weird feeling like they don’t listen - something I would consider when the next VIP payment is due. I really love purple (especially now with fall and Agatha All Along haha), but the new logo is like every generic tasks app ever combined, and the font somehow looks cool and confusing at the same time. :frowning:

Thank you for your work y’all, I’ll do my best to explain my criticism.
The color by itself is a nice shade, but it’s not good usability wise - it’s hard to read in both dark and light mode. Maybe it’s the contrast or font?
As of this moment, I’m having a hard time looking at my dashboard, it strains my eyes.
And the logo… Right now, if I may be blunt, it looks like a mix of the Instagram logo and every other to do list app.
As someone that’s been using the site since 2014-2015, It’s clear to me that it’s the watched button check mark - but from an outside view it looks… bland and generic.
I doubt a rollback will be made, and supporting two designs doesn’t sound efficient. If the change stays, I might have to seek out other options after years of usage out of unusability alone.

The icon to me looks much closer to Instagram than Twitch. It’s not really purple, more like dark pink. I have a bunch of Trakt tabs always open and it’s weird having so much of this color at the tab bar. I don’t think it will make a right impression if someone sees it, ngl

Overall, all my thoughts have already been addressed: contrast is really bad, white and purple especially seem to be a poor match (aesthetically too imo) and there’s a lot of that combo around; letters are weirdly tall - I thought I was having a stroke for a sec; liked the previous less generic logo much better - immediately could understand what website this is.
I don’t think this was needed, you nailed it the first time :man_shrugging:

I couldn’t put my finger on it, but you’re totally right. This immediately felt chaotic, because before it was nicely color-coded.

I agree with all of this. I’m a Web Designer/Developer and this update doesn’t seem to have had any Accessibility standards in mind. I liked the original logo better, it was their brand. I could see it and know it was Trakt. This checkmark won’t be rememberable to people as being the brand for Trakt. As for the color Purple, it should never be the primary color and should only remain as an accent color. They should have stayed with red, but maybe a different shade of Red.

This purple color on the Dark Knight mode makes it very hard on the eyes.

This all gets a big nope from me, dawg—for every reason already mentioned dozens of times. And the logo change is the most egregious thing . . .

I’m on Firefox and the hovering on the logo does nothing for me.

Edit:
FML… i just realised something and it will piss me off until i die now…

That “design flaw” summarizes how the redesign went… you guys just didn’t bother checking how the website looked in dark mode or what?
I didn’t even knew there was a dark mode until the “purplocalipse”, i been using Dark Reader since ages and it seems that “autoscript” did a better job :skull:

Yeah, there are a lot of design flaws showing up with this purple change…lots of fixes needing to be made to make it right.

The new brand color is too bright and flashy, doesn’t look well on the progress page, especially in dark knight mode.

Font’s weird, I kept the page in 90% scaling and now it’s bad, and 100% scaling is still too big for me.

Overall hard to see that as improvement and I will definitely change things back with CSS.
