Trakt gets a makeover!

sigh ok, what nobody seems to be understanding is OF COURSE THE REPLIES ARE NEGATIVE. People generally do not go out of their way to voice their positive opinions unless they are really, really passionate about whatever it is. Trakt has 9 million members. a fraction of those are people who use this site at the level the people in this forum do. There’s 100 people in here crying about the logo, but there’s 8 million + who either like the logo or simply don’t care what the logo looks like, but they’re not going to come to these forums and say that, because they don’t effing care Basing the user response on the replies and not some kind of user wide poll would be stupid.

I’m using the only number recently available from Trakt, but I’m happy to say it’s only 7 or 8 million. It doesn’t change my point.

I’m indifferent to both font and color changes.

I don’t mind purple at all nor the new font.
I think the hate is a bit extreme :see_no_evil:
The trakt 1.0 to 2.0 was something else though. That was totally different site. This is not so big if you ask me.

I like the new logo.

And totally true. The complainers will always be the loudest. You never really hear from the people who are good with everything.
Also let’s not forget how easy it is for anyone with a different opinion to get canceled right away :see_no_evil:

I have an idea, everyone cancel your VIP and post a screenshot, maybe that will get the devs attention ;D

To much purple… not the best color for links in a website. simple black our dark grey is much better.

Well after a few days I gotta say I still dislike purple as design choice. Never liked the colour. I tried giving it a shot - it just isn’t my thing.
At first I couldn’t get my head around why next to my colour dislike it also looks weird in my eyes, but now I think it is this ‘used link’-connection in my brain.
Since like ever and especially back in the days clicked links get a purple look and because of this I think the site gives me this ‘old website with every link clicked’ vibe. It doesn’t look modern in a way.
And the purple overkill in dark mode is still hard on my eyes while reading.
I still hope for a colour choice, especially because I think some other colours and combinations might really look great.

Don’t really have a opinion on the logo. I don’t use the app much but I get why people mix it up with to-do apps and stuff.

yes that is because people post only if they have negative. I posted that i liked it. Most of the users post (you can see that they have also posted for the first time) just to say don’t like it so the posts and number of posts really do not tell the overall truth.

Just to show that there are more people who aren’t a fan of this makeover, I’m posting.
Please Trakt add the option to revert back to the old theme. Not a big fan of the logo, the font, or the color. The old ones were perfect.

And what’s that BLACK CIRCLE I keep seeing when loading a page (or refresh). I thought I have a stroke… pretty scary!

The silence from the side of the Trakt devs is deafening

looks ugly to me. I don’t recognize the website anymore.
It has lost his spirit…
Please reconsider this change.

Sincerly,
Achla.

I have to admit I also don’t like at all this new logo. Please reconsider.

I guess I’ll pile on… Not the best change. Seems to be the year of missed changes with the Ars Technica one going over poorly as well.

Same feedback as others:
The Trakt logo was distinctive, and now how does it relate more to Trakt vs. to-do list? Media is fun, not work.
While I like the idea of purple a lot, it doesn’t work as well as the red.
I would revert to classic style if given the choice in settings.

Unfortunately seems like a solution looking for a problem in this case?

Devs don’t respond and don’t care. Cancel your VIP in protest

I don’t think the purple is that great. Loved the Red color.

It’s confusing that only SOME things are changed to purple, and other things are left as red.
Example attached.

Here are some updates I just released:

  • Dark Knight: lighter purple used for more contrast
  • Font: reduce the boldness and fixed some spacing
  • Logos: removed the top and loading animations
  • Progress Bars: improved bar contrast and fixed some calculation bugs
  • Progress: icons colors for watched (purple) + collected (green)
  • Release Notes: purple badge
  • VIP: red is used for VIP badges + related VIP buttons
  • Watching Now: red is used for checkins + real time watching progress
  • On Deck: fixed missing 1px border in dark knight mode so progress bar aligns better
  • Colors: fixed various icon and action colors

Other notes:

  • We are discussing the fonts and VIP selectable themes.
  • iOS and Android apps are still in review for the new branding updates.
  • We welcome all the feedback and good discussion. However, please keep it civil and don’t try and sabatoge the process.
  • Of course we care and value your feedback. Trakt has been built over the years by communicating back and forth with you all.
  • We’ll continue to fix bugs and issues.

VIP and watching now (checkins, scrobbling) are still red. This is intentional.

This was an animation that failed to load in some browsers. It’s been replaced with a more traditional loader.

This should be fixed now. It was an old bug actually.
