Over the past couple of months, we’ve rolled out some long-awaited features, polished up the experience across our apps, and kicked off major new beta that’ll make some users very happy.
Let’s dive in!
Introducing Plex Sync
Plex users, this one’s for you: Plex Sync is now available for all Trakt VIP members!
Unlike the existing Plex Webhook, Plex Sync brings automatic hourly syncing of your entire Plex library — including watched history (with multiple plays!), ratings, and Library data — directly into your Trakt account. You’re in control: choose to sync everything or just new data, and even undo a sync if something doesn’t feel right.
Some highlights:
- One-time setup → continuous sync
- Works without needing Plex Pass
- Fully supports metadata and grouped episodes
- Easily trigger a manual sync whenever you want
- Track and undo sync history if needed
Plex Sync is designed to be more accurate, more complete, and more forgiving than the Plex Webhook — though you can absolutely use both together if you want now playing statuses too.

A Smarter, Faster Search Engine
Our new experimental search engine is officially live! Behind the scenes, we swapped in a modern search infrastructure that’s already delivering 10x faster response times and more relevant results across:
- Both trakt.tv and app.trakt.tv
- Our official native apps
- 3rd-party apps using the Public API
It’s a drop-in replacement, meaning it should just work. Search should now better understand what you mean, not just what you type.

iOS & tvOS: A More Visual, Flexible Experience
Trakt on iOS, iPadOS and tvOS has evolved significantly, with updates focused on making the experience more visual, more intuitive, and more personal.
Highlights include redesigned media cards, richer image previews (like posters and actor headshots), and smarter ways to interact — including context menus, trailer playback preferences, and compact layout options for personal lists. You’ll also notice better filtering and navigation throughout the app, from streamlined settings and notification handling to the ability to hide watched items on your calendar.
Everything feels faster, cleaner, and more tailored to how you track. Whether you’re checking in on your phone, browsing from your Apple TV, or managing your profile on iPad, Trakt just feels more at home across Apple platforms.
Android TV: From Web to Native
We first introduced a Trakt app for Android TV based on our lightweight web experience — a great way to browse, check in, and track your progress on the big screen. Since then, we’ve taken things to the next level with a brand-new native Android TV app, now available in beta. It offers smoother navigation, richer media details, Watch Now integration, and much more — all optimized for TV viewing.
We’re actively improving it with upcoming features like search, ratings, and full lists support.
