📦 Trakt Product Roundup – November 2025

November was all about tightening the new Trakt experience across Web, iOS and Android. A lot of what shipped this month won’t shout at you from a single big feature but together, they make Trakt feel more consistent, more predictable and more fun to use day-to-day.

:sparkles: Trakt on the Web

  • A Home that feels like home
No more horizontal scrolling on wide screens!
Continue Watching and Start Watching now mix movies and episodes more naturally and avoid unreleased or in-progress items where it doesn’t make sense.
High-level Media/Shows/Movies filtering makes it easier to quickly refine what you see at a glance.

  • More control over what you see
Summary and Home pages got solid performance improvements.
Search queries are better too, making it easier to find what you want without extra steps.
Person pages now show birthdays and social links, so cast/crew browsing feels richer.

  • Profiles, Navigation, Action
Profiles now surface Libraries and Watch History, with a more compact “this month” view.
A new minimal sidebar and a typography pass (less ALL CAPS, better spacing, new base font) make the whole site feel better and lighter.
The evolving “Action Bar” is now available across all screen sizes, giving you consistent access to key actions wherever you are.

:red_apple: Trakt on iPhone and iPad

  • Design catching up
The new Summary screen continues to improve with more refined interactions.
The Media/Shows/Movies filter lets you jump straight to movies, shows or both without digging through menus.

  • Profile, rebuilt from the ground up
Profiles have been completely overhauled with a new layout. You get clear sections for Month in Review, History, Favorites, Library, Followers and Following, making it easier to understand what you’ve been watching and how others use Trakt.

  • Glassier than ever
Search now feels native with the new integrated tab bar. Headers, cards and tabs all pick up Trakt’s newer look while embracing Apple’s latest design language.

:robot: Trakt on Android

  • Media mode that follows you
The new Media/Shows/Movies selector now drives Home, Discover and Lists, including when you want to “view more”.

  • Favorites and Comments
Favorites (movies and shows only) got proper add and remove flows.
Comments gained full support for adding (with spoiler toggle), replying and deleting reviews.

  • Mark Watched, not always now
You can now mark titles as watched at a specific date and time, at release date or at an unknown date.
Long-press on the “mark as watched” tick or use the 3-dots menu to access all options.

:backhand_index_pointing_right: That’s a wrap

The theme for the last few months has been clear: a unified Trakt experience across platforms. Same concepts and capabilities, tuned to each device.

As always, your feedback is what guides the next iterations.
Keep it coming.

No improvements in trakt experience,
They are so far destroying trakt experience.

My notes are not visible

Thumbs up for finally adding filters to lists, but why seasons pages are still not supported in the new trakt / trakt app? Old trakt treats seasons as individuals items, the same for shows, movies or episodes. Meanwhile, seasons/episodes are still missing from New Trakt personal lists

We have been discussing notes and this basically boils down to: notes currently feel too “open” and we are asking ourselves the question “how can we improve notes?” before jumping on migrating them to the new experience.

Questions we have (to give you an idea of the process):

  • if notes are used to say “I watched this with XYZ”, maybe a better way to do it would be to have user mentions attached to history entries,
  • if notes are used to say “I watched this at the cinema”, maybe a better way to do it would be to have a location link attached to history entries,
  • if notes are just used to add an additional information that could be a tag, a tagging system would be better,
  • if notes are there to add a personal comment, maybe private comments would be better suited for that,
  • …

Can you please help me understand how you are using notes?

Thanks!!

Episodes and Seasons not displayed in Lists in the New Trakt is considered as a bug by our team, it will be fixed asap.

Regarding adding Seasons and Episodes (or People) to Lists, we are currently looking at how we could improve that.

Can you share some lists examples where it is important for you to have Seasons and Episodes? We usually see this in “universes” like Star Wars or Marvel to have a fine-grained timeline of the universe. Would you be okay to have those lists be “official” or “community” lists you could follow but not add Seasons or Episodes to Lists on your own?

Thanks for your feedback!

Mostly for missing information, my own language overview since trakt iOS apps can’t extract other languages then English.
Where I saw it, sometimes private options. Keeped for my self, like when I think I movie or episode is really crap.

I use public, when missing IMDb link.
Private notes for Sometimes also for collection purposes when buying something, price, time. Etc
Hope this clears up the question

I also like to have disc information when colllected
NCIS: Los Angeles (TV Series 2009-2023), Season 6, Disc 2

Sedd 1a gĂĄng pĂĄ TV3, med reklam via Telenor Stream
Sedd 2a gång på egen ägd DVD

For me a list is incomplete if missing overhead, and seasons episode 2.1

So if that question was for me I don’t have a concrete example.

I don’t like to follow or like list. Prefer to have my own partly because I like to see those dots, green, purple, blue depending on how collected, seen, or in a list

I put my next collected item in watchlist, because I I haven’t found out how to just rewatch certain seasons or episodes only whole series, sometimes I don’t want rewatch everything from start just……..

And when watched with someone, they are not trakt users, so tagging them are not possible,

Mostly my mom and dad, sometimes but seldom my brother and or son. Ie family members not living with me.

My notes tend to be added to add an location mentioned in an episode, reason I delayed watching, service I used to watch but waiting for new episodes, etc. (Basically what ever comes to mind at the time.)

Adding a quick way to put where exactly something was actually watched and then easily sorted/filtered by that captured information may be a good idea. (Different from where it’s available because that is not always accurate.)

You are welcome :hugs:

I’m going to ask questions, don’t take it as a “no”, a “maybe” or a “yes”. I just want to understand and confirm some of our assumptions.
What about the progress page do you find most useful?
Isn’t the Continue Watching on the home page good enough?
Is it the mix of Watched/Completed with your Continue Watching?
Or the sorting/filtering?
The progress bar?

There are some shortcomings with the current notes. Since we are moving things from one to the other, why not look at how we can improve it along the way? You may like it more (or less) but until we do, we can’t know.

Which comments? Shooting in the dark I’d say: you can currently favorite things you’ve rated 5/5 and find them back under your profile. We are going to improve that feature but what are you missing? Sorting? Filtering? Another way to display favorites? Why?

While we are moving from one technical stack to another, and from a design system to another, why not try to improve things along the way? 15 years of change is what brought Classic Trakt to the point it reached. Change is what will make New Trakt the next step in its evolution. We embrace change. We don’t want New Trakt to be what it is today, we want what it can be. Can we agree on that?

How does the new Start Watching work for items in the watchlist?

Does it use the air date of the original country or is it country specific?

eg, If I add a new show/movie into my watchlist, it should only place it in the Start Watching section when it is released in my country, not when it gets released in it’s original country

Can you clarify this feature please

Thanks a lot for this piece of feedback :folded_hands:

Note taken on… notes (lol) on Favorites, progress and general profile improvements. All of these things are being looked at to be improved and this kind of feedback is very helpful. Thanks again!

It is currently specific to the country of origin of the show/movie. Sometimes it’s even more specifically the “live” air date of the episodes on the network of origin, even if all episode of the show are already available on streaming platforms.

This is a data limitation we’d like to address in the future.

We would love to be able to give country specific air dates and display dynamic lists like this one based on your country, or even based on the availability of each title on your favorite streaming platform.

Would you be okay to have those lists be “official” or “community” lists you could follow but not add Seasons or Episodes to Lists on your own?

I would not be okay with that, adding seasons to my personal lists is important to me because I want to specifically add the season, as an example, Season 1 of “The OA”, to my list. This would not work if I added the entire show page because I did not watch Season 2 of “The OA”.

The current Trakt has the feature of showing the % of items you watched on lists. This feature would not work without seasons, because a show like “The OA” would always count as not watched.

(adding individual episodes is not important to me, but i had to mention it in my previous comment.)

I have lists for all the streaming services I subscribe to and I add each episode to a list so I know which service I watched it on. At the end if the year I can then compare all my lists (aka services) and decide which ones are worth keeping because I know exactly how much I watched on each one. So if there’s a better watch to track that, I’d be all for it.(using where the episode is available doesn’t work because it can move around or Js available on multiple services.)

When is the “Collected” button coming back?

You mean Library. Trakt team has rebranded collection to Library not long ago. And for some reason, they claim many ppl “misuse” library and they supposedly plan to change the way it works… and they say it isn’t coming back anytime soon.

On the topic of notes, I like to use the notes for some interesting facts I learn about the episode/movie. Somewhere just for me to see them

Here’s some context about this:

  • The Collection (now called Library) on Trakt was created to hold “Your show and movie library — All owned items including Blu-rays, DVDs, and digital downloads.”.
  • When you click that “Add to Library” button, you get a popup where you can select the format, the resolution, the audio type and channels, if it’s HDR or 3D.
  • The Library is also included in the Calendar. Why? Because it helps people keep track of Blu-ray releases if they have a DVD version, or a 4K release when they have a lower resolution version.
  • Since we are now moving things from one experience to another, we are looking at how we (the team and the community) are using this feature. We plan to keep the concept of Library, that is sure, otherwise you wouldn’t see it under your profile in the new experience. How it will look like and how it will work (especially how you add things to it) is still to be determined.

Now, my question would be: how do you add things in your Trakt Library? And why? There is no wrong answer here… it is just important to help us understand how we can make it better.

Thanks for the explanation. I use the Add to Library button every day, in tandem with the Calendar page. It’s how I keep track of which TV show episodes have been released, and my addition of them to my collection. It is the primary reason for my use of Trakt.

I also use the library listing as a way for others who have access to my collection to engage with it more easily (and request things that may be missing). Those functions have enabled me to try to build some community around my media library among the folks who have access to it.

Honestly, the fact that you’ve forced this UI change on us without an understanding of how all of the currently-existing features will (or whether they should) be included in the new experience is astounding, tbh.

Right now, without the features that I use, the app is utterly useless for me. Engaging with it is a waste of my time.

I’m not a stereotypical nerd troll. I’m fine with change. My issues are not with the change per se, they’re with the method by which you’re deploying the change. I happen to think that your new UI design is crap, but I’d get used to it if I could still engage with it in a way that is relevant to my use case. But right now I can’t even do that, and from what you’ve said there’s no guarantee that I ever will be able to again.

If the annual renewal of my VIP membership had not been charged to my credit card a few days ago, this new information would cause me to cencel that renewal. As it stands you got my $ again, but I’m now on the lookout for an alternative service. Unless the app becomes useful to me again and/or if I lose access to the features that I value via the website, that’ll be the last fee that I pay.
