I was horrified by the new version and so excited when it suddenly reverted back. And now Iām horrified again. We hate it. Itās the worst. Something that was so nice is now so confusing and unintuitive. I canāt find anything I actually used or get the info I want at a glance. I used to recommend Trakt to everyone, but if this is the forced direction, I canāt do that anymore. Please get the memo from your loyal customers.
where are my hidden items? is the only way to get a show of my ācontinue watchingā to drop the whole show? even if Iāve already seen multiple seasons of it?
can we not track a whole season all at once now?
why canāt I see how many items are in my list?
also I have 7 list right now that have 0 of the items I put in there and instead have shows/movies Iāve never even heard of? and when I click on them I just get a blank screen. Does anyone else have this problem?
the progress area is basically useless if we have to click into every single show for the episode and then track it off
are we only going to be giving a weekly breakdowns? (screen time) and do we not get to see our monthly data unless we are vip?
Is the only way to navigate history just by scrolling down? why didnāt you make the calendar interactive so that you could click on the month and day rather than just showing us the date and month? I donāt want to scroll through the whole entire year to get to look at what I watched in December.
I started paying for vip because of the last update you guys did which made the app hard to use for people who didnāt have VIP and now you guys just made the app hard to use in general. Are these updates based on customer feedback I just donāt understand who is benefiting from this since it seems like no one asked for this. so why are you forcing this on people who donāt want it?.
Wow, Iām really sorry to say, but this new version is terrible. Very hard on the eyes and incredibly difficult to figure out where to find things, or to clearly see if youāve watched something or not on a show or movieās page. The previous version was very user friendly and clean and clear. I absolutely loved it and had no issues or suggestions of improvements. This new version, when I go to my profile page, I click History to go to look at my show and movie watching history, but itās not my history at all. Somehow, itās showing the history of a family member that I follow. I canāt figure out how to look at my own history.
Is there a place where we can choose to go back to the previous version?
Hello ā I donāt really post on the forums, but Iāve been using Trakt for 10+ years and been a VIP member for most of that time. Please bring the option to use V2 back. If folks want to use V3, thatās great. But it makes core things I use Trakt for ā like adding a new watch for an episode Iāve already seen, trying to opening an individual page for an episode, and reading and posting comments ā much more cumbersome. This creates significant friction in how I use Trakt, and Iād really appreciate it if you could allow VIP members to use the prior interface. Thank you!
You can find your dropped shows here https://app.trakt.tv/profile/me/progress and changing the icon to the Dropped Shows
you can track a whole season by clicking on the season, then the three dot menu for the season you want to track
you can find your monthly and all time data on your profile page at the top
this is happening for me as well, likely due to the switchover from v2 to v3 for all users. more traffic on the new servers with all the old v2 holdouts being forced over.
if youāre talking about the progress page from your profile that i linked to above, you might have better luck from the continue watching page. you can mark the next episode as it shows it by clicking the three dot menu
Apparently I missed all the communication leading up to this about the transition to V3, because I was caught completely off guard when I loaded up the site today. Iād say Iām disappointed with the change, but Iām more so just confused? I understand the desire to provide more cohesion between the website and phone apps, but honestly anytime I tried using the app I gave up within minutes because it lacked the information density of the website. Now that this V3 update has rolled out I find myself experiencing the same frustration of not being able to glean meaningful information at a glance about the shows I have in progress.
I have a lot of Youtube channels that I track on here, and I commonly watch out of order, and I can already tell how much of a nightmare itās going to be trying to find the right episode to check off. This is made even more difficult by the fact that the only visual indicator of whether Iāve watched an episode or not is a small checkbox the size of my cursor and the same color as the background, plus some longer episode names get cut off.
Why is the progress tracker limited to each individual season, rather than the whole show? Why is it allergic to having any color/contrast? Can I change colors? I donāt see any option to.

Why canāt I sort my shows by % watched, runtime, or even title? Why canāt I differentiate between episodes remaining and time remaining? Why not label the Default by what it actually is [ie Most Recently Watched]?
For a movie list I created, why canāt I randomize the list like we used to be able to? (this was great for not having to make a decision of which movie to put on)
Why canāt I filter by streaming service?
On top of all that, the website has been freezing up and failing to load about 50% of the pages Iāve clicked into.
Iām sure Iāll find more frustrations, but this is just within the first 20 minutes of playing around, hoping that there are some things Iāll maybe like better than with the previous version. I am so confused by the transition to a design that seems marginally ācleanerā yet at the same time lacking so much of the functionality and information density that the previous version had.
Iām not sure if the developers see it the same way (I hope so, itās in the name), but at its core Iāve been using Trakt as a database and repository for keeping track of the shows and movies I watch. This change to streaming-service-like ācardsā is such a huge step back that Iām going to have to re-evaluate if this is the site that I want to continue investing my time (and data) into.
āV3 is the default web experience for everyoneā for SHUTTING DOWN V2 is incredibly disrespectful wording.
V3 is not the default. It is the ONLY web experience now.
āV3 is the default web experience for everyoneā
Great, how do I undo that?
Thank you Trakt for being the central point in my life for the last 10 years. Iāve spent hundreds or even thousands of hour on the website enjoying every single time. Now the inevitable sad day I have been fearing for a very, very long time has come true. Trakt has changed into something I can no longer support. It is time to move on.
Why did you get rid of the dashboard? I liked seeing my total play time for tv and movies and the total plays and episode plays for each. Now I only see an approximate amount of episode plays and movies watched rounded to the nearest 100. Thatās not good enough.
Also, where can I see my total plays for a show? That seems to have disappeared.
I canāt even figure out how to rewatch an episode on the new design. The history is so much worse. Feels like I have to scroll forever in my history if I want to find something I watched years ago. Please let us switch back to V2. V2 was great. V3 is going to make me cancel my VIP if it still works like this when my membership is up.
Why isnāt there a separate page for episodes? All of the information for specific episodes are scrunched into the right hand side of the page. This is super ugly UI like how do I view the information about an episode as a full page?
Thereās so much I dislike about v3 like where has all of the colour gone? Itās a grey wasteland now. I miss V2. It seems so weird youāre framing this as āfinally giving VIPs V3ā when if we wanted it weād have been using it.
Edit: Also, how do I ācheck inā that was primarily how I tracked my watching and I canāt even figure out how to. While rewatching a show, clicking on the tick now defaults to asking if I want to delete my watch of it? WTH?
Is there a way to revert to the old UI? Because the new one is practically unusable. Nothing makes sense. You have to open the season to get access to episodes beyond the 8th. Adding historical watches by arbitrarily choosing what two things you watched it between first before being able to edit the precise time and date is absolutely insane. This might genuinely be the worst UI update Iāve ever experienced from any website in history. Why did you try to fix what wasnāt broken?
Why are only the last 10 plays available in Ā«historyĀ»? I see movies as I listen to albums ā sometimes one play is just not enough. So where are my other plays for movies/episodes Iāve watched more than 10 times?
This is my biggest issue as well. The big reason I use Trakt is to be able to manage, track, and engage with what I watch on an episode-by-episode basis. Scrunching episode-specific content to the side, hiding additional info and commentary behind extra clicks, and not having options to add individual episodes to lists completely frustrates the purposes for which I use Trakt. Please allow users to use the old interface. Thank you!
I am a VIP member. Now that v3 is the default for all, exactly what do I get that is not available on the free version?
Is it at all possible to have v2 as still an option for paying members, I do not want the app on a bigger screen, I want a dedicated webpage which would appear to no longer exist?
Does V3 look good? In my opinion, controversially, yes. Does it function? Absolutely not. I have stumbled through things, and figured some of the things out that serve my intended use. But it took me hours to get part way to where I want to be for the service that I pay for. Some of that is partly down to the fact that no matter what I click on, nothing loads. I have to refresh the page every single click. Alas, I persisted, more out of stubbornness to not have poor marketing and business decisions beat me than anything else.
I wholeheartedly agree with much of the sentiment here and Iām curious to know, who Trakt are serving. Iām going to go ahead and assume that those who are happy with the changes, wouldnāt be posting about it here which is seemingly why nobody has seen positive comments. Iām sure there are some, but perhaps Iām just an optimist. Perhaps Iām so stubborn that I want to figure V3 out, rather than admit that a decade of payments to Trakt was ultimately, a waste of money.
Iām getting my head around some elements, though overall, what I have figured out, is categorically a step backwards. Iām yet to understand where my āCollectionā is. Iām aware itās now āLibraryā, but why o why release this if we are unable to actually collapse the library into seasons, let alone shows. Letās say for example, Iāve collected every episode of The Simpsons, bar one. V2 Iād figure out which episode was missing in a few clicks. V3, requires three times as many clicks, just as many page refreshes, and by the time I find the episode that I havenāt collected, The Simpsons has been cancelled.
Iām all for change, if that change serves a purpose. Iām yet to see what that purpose is.
We got plenty of valid reports about all the flaws of V3. What disturbs me most is the status of the filters though. Since V3 was announced, I always mentioned how essential that feature is.
And what did we get? The most barebone possible option. No IMDb ratings, no Metacritic. No option to filter for a specific service only. Itās only āfavoritesā or search pretty much absolutely everywhere.
This makes it impossible to just search my currently subscribed services. Which is usually two of them. It makes it impossible for me to check if there is sufficient new content available, for me to resubscribe to a service.
But frankly said, Iām not surprised that the current trakt team doesnāt get why people would have the need for more specific filter options. I remember very well their argumentation when they increased the prices, insisting that it would be such a great deal if compared to the total cost of all the important streaming services combined, suggesting that it would be normal to have them all subscribed all the time. They literally didnāt get the concept of rotating streaming service subs. And it shows in the current filter options, that this is still the case. They cater only to the all or nothing clients.
And I have little hope that it could get better, as there is literally no mention of filters in their plans or roadmap. An essential VIP feature simply became irrelevant and they donāt even pretend to care.
And last but not least: How āamazingā this new design is, is exemplary shown by the fact that till this day I couldnāt figure where and how to add new movies to my library.
That actually makes me want to watch less right now, which is saying something.
But tracking, filtering, and sifting through the site used to be half the fun and an essential part of the viewing experience; right now, itās tedious, extremely laborious, and, with so many missing features, ultimately disappointing.
I just cancelled my VIP membership and switched to Showly. Thanks for the years, TV Trakt.
