:high_voltage: Fewer steps to get things done

Press / or Cmd+K to search for a movie, show, or page within Trakt. You can find your next destination without a single click. Open Trakt and try it →

Reordering a long list no longer means dragging an item all the way through it. Type the position you want, or move an item straight to the top or bottom. Open your lists →

:play_button: Find your next watch faster

Progress now separates “Up to date” from “Ended.” Shows you’re caught up on have their own view, separate from shows you’ve finished that have ended or been canceled. Check your progress →

Calendar and Releases now let you filter for premieres and finales. Use them to find what’s starting or wrapping up without browsing every release. Open Calendar · Browse Releases

:wrench: The smaller things that add up

We’ve fixed several causes of unexpected sign-outs, loading errors, and import problems, along with watched labels, season progress counts, and hard-to-see poster badges. These are the small things you notice when they get in your way. If you’re still running into them, please keep sending us examples.

Before clearing data, removing duplicate plays, or deleting your account, Trakt now offers to export your data first. That option is on by default, and an incomplete export prompts you again before continuing. Duplicate cleanup also lets you choose which play to keep. Open your data settings →

We’re also bringing more of everything to our mobile apps. iOS updates added richer ratings, season details, widget progress bars, and fixes for past-date tracking and freezes; recent Android work includes widgets, a light theme, Smart List creation, and an updated watched-date picker. VIP members can turn on Preview Features to try features we’re still refining. Some are new since the last update, while others have been expanded or are still being tested.

  • Parental Guidance: see content guidance for movies and shows, and filter by severity in Advanced Filters.
  • Action confirmations: get feedback after supported actions, with quick undo options and a shortcut to change lists.
  • List counts: see how many items a list contains and how many lists are in a section.
  • Reviewer stats: see how much of a title someone has watched alongside their review rating.

While you’re at it, let us know when you plan on adding back notes? You know, the thing I PAID FOR that you removed.

you added the premiere on calendar (not calendar a different button) but in V2 there were new shows and season premieres. So we do not care much about s4 episode 1, but season 1 episode 1, meaning a new show. will that be added?

The limit on list items is not a bug. VIP allows 100 custom lists with up to 1,000 items per list, so 100,000 items in total.

The idea behind custom lists is to manually curate related titles into something useful for you and the Trakt community. Above 1,000 titles, a list often becomes more about browsing, recommendations or discovery. Those lists are useful too, but we think smart lists are better suited to that.

Smart lists let you define a common theme through filters and criteria, then update automatically as titles match. They can keep growing without you having to maintain them manually.

If you personally have a list with more than 1,000 items that you can’t recreate with a smart list, let us know what’s missing. That’s something we want to improve.

For the other specific requests in this thread, head to roadmap.trakt.tv and vote for the ones that matter to you, or add yours if it’s missing. We’re working on the things you mention, but we have to prioritize. Your votes help us do that. We can’t answer every request individually, but we do read your feedback. Thanks!

I’m still not sure what I should think about v3, but after you guys getting so much flak in the last months, I want to say something positive: Thanks for bringing back lists with episodes and seasons. :+1:

That has been my biggest issue with v3. (But I figured that it might come back some day, since you could still add episodes to lists via the API directly. :innocent: ) So, again, thanks!

If a list was manually/personally curated, that’s not something you can recreate with smart lists.

The whole point of adding to lists is because it’s items YOU WANT on the lists, if I wanted random but similar items to be added then people would be using the smart lists in the first place.

What you’re suggesting is people use smart lists, an automated thing they don’t have full control over when all they want to do is simply add to their own list.

This is why building for yourself first simply doesn’t work. You make a service that people pay for, but you ignore what paying customers want and force what you want instead.

You didn’t like personal notes - removed them

You don’t use a desktop - mobile UI for all

You didn’t like how people used the library feature - restricted it to Plex only

You don’t collect physical media - made it digital only

You don’t like long lists - restrict and suggest “smart” lists instead

You don’t like the API being used for competitors - remove their API access

How does any of those I mentioned benefit paying users at all?

“Seasons and episodes in personal lists will be back” is a remarkable thing to put under what we’re working on next. After two years of changes, you’re announcing the possible return of something users already had as though it’s progress.

Meanwhile, VIP members can preview list counts. Counts. For lists.

The post asks what everyday task you should make easier. Here’s one: using Trakt without wondering which basic feature will disappear, move, or come back later as an exciting roadmap item. The little product improvements listed here don’t erase how frustrating the broader experience has been.

And after being told that Trakt builds for its own team first, “your feedback helps us decide” rings pretty hollow. You’ve made your priorities clear. Please stop dressing them up as a conversation with users.

Plex Sync still not working for me

and on that note why plex? is an affiliate of Trakt? i do not use plex, why do i have the plex icon on my screen, and when i have to see the libraryi have default the plex button and not the other so i have to click o another button to change from plex to see my librrary

Do we assume that everyone is using plex??? Make a button to disable it in the settings

In the past with v2, you could also see the total watch time duration of all the items in your list, when you would apply the filter it would also adjust the watch time.

I’m just curious from a database/backend standpoint why 5 lists of 1000 is better than one list of 5000?

Also, some options to consider: Grandfather in VIPs with larger lists, or allow 1-2 lists a cap of 3000-5000. Even 2500 would be reasonable.

I have a specific list that is not accounted in these changes. It is a “Hide List”. This is a list of all media (shows and movies) that I want to hide and have no intention of watching. I created this list for sorting purposes, so that when looking through lists of new shows or movies to watch, I wouldn’t look at items I already decided against watching. This feature is no longer available, as when searching, you can only hide “Watched” or “Watchlisted”, not leaving an option for hiding items on personal lists.

I have a popular, comprehensive historical list of animated shows that I’m unable to update due to list restrictions, even though, as VIP, I am well under the “Total List Items” limit. How am I supposed to reconcile this historical list if I can’t update it? It’s already got a substantial number of followers

My watchlist is coming up to the limit of 1000. Nevermind any other list or smart lists, just the watchlist. I watch anime with my family. Every season is another 50+ shows I add to my watchlist. Are you saying that I should use the smart list? But the calendar uses the watchlist. I use the calendar to see what’s on. I should remove the old shows? Yeah, it was enough work just to get them added in the first place, now I have to remove them? Why is there a limit on list items? Why is there a limit on watch list items?

I also cannot view or edit my smart list. What were the filter conditions? Can’t tell. Can’t change them. I used to copy my anime seasonal lists from someone else who spent time putting it together. Yes, I can create a smart list of anime shows, but I can only do it by year, I cannot do it by season. The smart list isn’t that smart so far. And, I have to go into each show individually to add them to the watch list so that I can see them on the calendar.

It seems like everything in V3 has been to make things much harder to use, not easier. The number of clicks is way higher. That was already super annoying. I’ve put up with a lot of annoyances before coming here looking for the forums to see other people complaining and rage-quitting. I have doubts that the people making design decisions actually use the product themselves. If you used the product yourself every day, you wouldn’t put up with these deficiencies. I was very happy with V2.

The roadmap is pretty unusable and lazy. That’s mostly a suggestion box. We have to scroll through and find out if there is something that we want and see if someone else has already suggested it? It’s too raw. You need to groom the items and categorize/sort/tag them appropriately so that people can quickly find out what features in what area are on there. If that’s really your roadmap no wonder V3 is all over the place. It just isn’t clear. The roadmap should be curated from the suggestions and upvotes and be somewhat coherent.
