Upcoming 2 Hour Website Downtime On Feb 5, 2025

We will be performing a database migration to new infrastructure, which requires up to 2 hours of downtime.

:date: Date and Time: 2025-02-05T20:00:00Z2025-02-05T22:00:00Z

:hourglass_flowing_sand: Expected Duration: Up to 2 hours

During this period, the website will be temporarily unavailable. We appreciate your patience and will work to complete the migration as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your understanding! We’ll provide updates here once the migration is complete.

Wait… That’s like in 2 hours
Such announcements are usually expected at least a few days before the maintenance. A reminder is fine 2 hours before, but not an announcement :frowning:

BTW, Discourse allows date inserts and it shows to everyone in their local time:

Yeah, that’s my bad. We’re trying to make it so Justin isn’t responsible for all communication and I dropped the ball on this one.

That seems like a scary maintenance. I do hope things go smoothly and finish on schedule. :crossed_fingers:

Be grateful there was even an announcement. There wasn’t when free users got shafted. Trakt come in last place when it comes to communicating with their customers.

Hope everything goes smoothly!

Finally got an email from trakt about the maintenance but it was 30 mins after the maintenance started. lol!! I guess at least there’s progress in terms of communications haha

Update: Actually it was an email from uptime bot lol. Not sure if automated or sent out by trakt themselves

Seems to be back for me

At least for viewing, can’t add anything or rate anything yet

We’re coming back up now!

Everything went well, but we might seem some slowness as things heat back up. Thank you for patience, and my apologies again for not getting a notice up sooner. I’ll do better

Edit: spoke too soon. We’re tracking down an issue with replication lag. Will update when things are smoothed out.

Maybe its related to replication lag (but seems doubtful?) but i’m unable to auth using oauth via https://mdblist.com/ I receive a 500 error.

Right now the website is hit or miss. I thought it was working but after two clicks it’s offline again.

Ok, here’s the fun update for today. We’re back up, but only got part of the work done. This unfortunately means we’ll be scheduling another fun downtime in the near future. Only upside is it should be much shorter.

Thank you for your patience and when this is done, we’ll be on far more resilient infrastructure.

I haven’t noticed anything wonky but I only tracked two episodes :see_no_evil:

When is the ‘near future’ please? I’ve been getting a few error 500 messages and problems with marking shows as watched, etc for the last week. I don’t know if this is part of what the maintenance is for and if I should wait, or if this is something unrelated that needs fixing.

It wouldnt have been effected by today’s maintenance. Can you open a support ticket with any steps to replicate the 500s you’re seeing?

Thanks for confirming Sean. I sent an email to Support early this morning and am waiting for a reply.

Oh hey, I just noticed those two plays are gone now! Episode 4x01 of NCIS, and 1x15 of De Cirkel. Did something go wrong after downtime @sean ?

We did rollback, but no data should have been lost during the time since the problem was data wasn’t adding correctly. When were these plays added?

I posted the timestamp of when I completed NCIS on my private discord server for notekeeping. I’ve added it with timestamp Feb 5, 22:21 (my timezone, GMT +1, Amsterdam)

Of the time I added it with “Other Date”, I’m unsure, it but, I guess maybe around 22:40ish. I remember going to the forums checking whether it was really completed already and you had just posted, but not yet the edited version.

The De Cirkel episode timestamp I’m less sure of, because Trakt was already back up then, I logged it RIGHT after completing it. It must have been before 23:48PM because then I posted on this forum that I already had successfully logged two episodes. I know I listened to an audiobook afterward, and finished listening at 23:44, and I listened approx 27 minutes. But before listening, and after watching the episode, I also cleaned up a bit, so let’s say 23:00-10ish.

I added that episode right after finish watching it.

Screenshot of my posts at my discord server :stuck_out_tongue:

(I’m very detailed with my answers HAHA but TL;DR, first ep backlogged around 22:40, other around 23:10-ish)
