Why do some series finale say "Series Finale" while others say "Season Finale"?

For example Adolescence’s finale shows as “Series Finale”. But Orb’s finale shows as “Season Finale”, even though both of these are the last episodes of their series, and both are shows that have an “Ended” status.

I also don’t see a difference in TMDB. Both TMDB entries just say “Season Finale”, so I would assume that Trakt is determing a “Series Finale” as being a “Season Finale” for the last season in a series that has “Ended”. But, that doesn’t always work. In fact, in my experience, most series finales only show up as “Season Finale” in Trakt.

They come from different country’s. I’ve noticed that shows from UK says series finale, while one from US say season.

‘Series Finale’ is a tag we can’t get automatically since TMDB doesn’t have that data, so it’s changed when an user reports that the show is ‘Ended’ and the tag needs to change.
All the shows that have that tag were manually added.

EDIT: I’ve just changed the tag on Orb.

So, it’s entirely a manual process? It doesn’t happen automatically when a series is marked as Ended?

But “Ended” is a series status on TMDB, so, in theory, it should be able to be automated so that whenever Trakt gets the update from TMDB that the series is Ended, the final episode should be marked as a “Series Finale”.

That’s just not set up to happen yet? Is that the case? If so, is it a planned feature for it to be automated?

I’ve asked the developers if that can be added, but for now, it’s a manual process.
