2024 Year in Review!

Your 2024 Year in Review is ready!

You did an epic job directing 2024, now let’s check out all your stats in a brand new design! Also new this year is the dynamic social image, which gets automatically used when sharing your YIR link on your socials. Let us know what you think!

Neat!

I found a bug for me though:
it seems like the poster next to highest rated TV shows and movies won’t display

Wishing there was a way to hide things I re-rated this year (from highest rated lists), and haven’t wrapped my head around how this dynamic social image works, but aside from that it looks tops!

Here’s an example of the dynamic image when you share your yir link anywhere:

Ah okay cool. Still kinda left wanting for something easy to share to, say, Instagram stories. But this is a great little addition!

I don’t use it myself but are you able to share that image (eg accessed via https://widgets.trakt.tv/users/thoroughmas/yir.jpg?year=2024) to instagram stories? Or is it meant to be another format? Do you have an example of what another app does that you’re referring to?

Yeah just sharing that image, or a screenshot of the part of the year in review I want to share, works decently. I just think of how year in review on apps like PocketCasts has a one-click share button which sends a nicely laid out image straight to the social media app. I believe Spotify/YT Music do the same thing.

That said, things are looking real nice on mobile so its not hard to just screenshot. It’s a minor niggle!

I just wanted to let you know that the end of the 2024 year in review says, " We hope Trakt helped you get through 2020.
Here’s to a better 2021!"

Or at least mine does.

What is the full url to the year in review you’re viewing? Sounds like you might be viewing your 2020 data?

Sorry. I had to go back and check previous years … Everything is welcoming 2021.

But the Data collected seems to be correct.

It sounds like you selected the 2020 template in the top left. Change that to auto and you’ll see each custom year in review design starting with 2020 and newer.

I must have and not realized/remembered.

It seems to be the best option for me after reviewing the recent years.

Thank you for the clarification.

Great work, Justin and Trakt team! I would like to suggest that in the actors/actresses/directors/writers section there be an option to sort by episodes, instead of just by the number of series they appeared in, I think it makes more sense with the purpose of the site.

This may be a silly question, but where do I go to download the shareable image?

I don’t think there’s an obvious download button but you can use this link (just replace <username> with your username)

Also doesn’t really work for past years

Found a bug with the most watched week, it seems that the text displayed is one week off from the actual correct week. The graph is displayed correctly and also clicking on the bar goes to the correct filter.

The same goes for the movies
(I attended a film festival that week)

*edit: note that when I apply the 2024 theme to the 2023 stats it does show correctly there

And a very minor alignment issue when the network is too long and splits over 2 lines

As mentioned previous year, I really like this VIP feature as I love some good stats. I do wish some more things could be added as the available stats are the same over the past few years. You could easily add a graph with average per week and how that evolved over time, or a chart with movie languages (vs the countries we have now). How does my behavior compares to previous year. Or some graphs that takes imdb or rotten tomatoes scoring into account (and even compare it to your own scores). You could also add a graph of the release-year of the movie and plot that to see my new vs classic watch behavior. Just some ideas

Overall, I really like the theme this year!

Thanks and happy holidays to the team!

It’s a good theme this year, but I noticed that the collected stats are missing. I had to switch to a different theme to see those numbers.

Would be nice if there was some good looking pictures to share on social media. I’m trying to find some good bits to screenshot but it’s all uninteresting stuff for social media like graphs and charts. I just need like 1 or 2 pictures that shows how much i watched and my most watched/rated movies and shows kinda like how spotify does it

Thank You, looks really good. I do miss the show more button when viewing the top shows watched for the year.
