The ability to choose All Favorites and use it in various service filtering is great. I wish there was a way to setup other streaming service groups through settings so I can filter by those. For example, I find that Hoopla does not give me good results in Canada – so being able to create No Hoopla. Other examples could be No Ads (for just my paid streaming services).
I am frequently adding all services and then manually deleting ones I wish to exclude. This would be a nice addition.
Saved files can be used for this on the aggregate shows and movies pages. For example, you can go to Movies > Popular, apply your advanced filters, then save them for later use. Will this work for you?
I am not sure how this would work. Usually I want to apply this to my Watchlist … that is from the list view I want to filter by streaming services: Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney, and Criterion (for example). This is used so I can see which movies I can watch right now on my “no ads” streaming services.
Can you explain how I can “save them for later use”? I don’t see an ability to save filters anywhere … do you mean just bookmark the url?
I am just referring to the advanced filters applied to the global pages like trending, popular, etc. This blog post has more info near the bottom how to save filters. Saved filters also show up in the mobile apps in the discover section as custom cards.
We don’t have this concept when viewing a list. That would be a good feature request though.
These are cool features and I didn’t know they existed (specifically the save and I missed you could set standard filters).
However, there doesn’t appear to be a Global page of “all movies” – so I am getting a list of things that are popular or trending, when I really want it driven from the movies on my wishlist (or some other list).
For example, I would love if I could create an advanced filter that would allow me to:
“Show movies that I can stream on (Netflix, Amazon Prime) that are on my (1001 movies to watch before you die) that I (have not watched) sorted by (Runtime descending)”
Since I do this almost every day when I go to choose which movies I would like to watch. Sometimes I am cool with ads, and will open up the streaming services. Sometimes I am travelling to the US and would love to show the US services I have added as favourites. Most of the time I want those excluded, etc.
So to answer that question, the ability to configure things very similar to what you have as “All Favorites” so I could choose from the dropdown would be perfect. For now, I just booked marked a series of variations and I use the bookmarks instead (creating a new set for each list I like to use).
Does this better explain the request? I think to answer the question above, working on the global pages might work but it limits it to some global set of movies (popular, trending, etc) so rare movies I have on my lists will never pop-up. It also doesn’t support a number of things here (filtering by list/wishlist and sorting, for example).
If you think this is limited value, please feel free to close the request. I can certainly continue to setup browser bookmarks and not have the ability in mobile (which I rarely use).
