Bug in the Stats

Since about two weeks ago, a bug seems to have cropped up regarding the stats which I noticed when lists like “Top 100 Actors” and “Top 100 Actresses” do not reflect all that I have watched. At present the lowest ranked actors in my Top 100 have 11 points (individual movies or shows) to their name and the lowest ranked actresses have 7 points to theirs when, earlier, the minimum threshold was more like 16 points for actors and 12 points for actresses. As far as I can see, everything that I have logged as watched is still accounted for, it’s just not entirely reflected in the stats. This issue has appeared on both desktop and Android.

I mentioned the same thing in the Year End Review Feedback issue that’s up.

This is on the other thread but would really appreciate at least some acknowledgment from the devs.

Yep, I noticed the same problem.

It’s possible they’re working on it. I’ve checked my YIR a few times and keep noticing the top actors changing. Slowly more credits are coming in and people are changing in order. Almost makes me think some cache got broken or some query or something.

Yes, same problem with the “Year in Review” for 2026 (but probably there for all other years too, I didn’t check). Lots and lots of actors and actresses are missing — it seems like it only takes into account the top credits of each movie and TV show. I hope this is a bug and not a decision to only take top credits into account, because that would make the stats irrelevant.

Please fix it. Thanks

Also noticing this, hope it’s fixed

I would really like an answer. Will this be fixed? Will the statistics for actors and actresses be fixed and go back to how they were working before?

Because this is really a deal breaker for me.

please fix it.

Thanks :+1:

I don’t even dislike new Trakt that much but the one dealbreaker is these:

Bring back non-top actors to the stats counts

Go back to 100 actors (or better yet just include all 2+ count. Don’t bother with 1 count.

Bring back the template selector.

make it easier to switch stats years in the app.

Bring back sorting by completion percentage.

How can I contact customer support by email? I need a clear answer.

If this issue is not fixed, or if I don’t receive an answer, I will cancel my subscription before my renewal.

The actor and actress statistics (including all credits and guest appearances) are the main reason I am a VIP member.

My renewal date is March 20.

Thank you.

Same. I’m in June.

Can someone from support please answer? I just need to know if this is a bug or not.

If you changed the actors and actresses stats on purpose, just tell me — I won’t bite (I mean, I’ll go away from VIP, but I won’t bite, lol).

I just want an answer; it would really be appreciated.

But, Since no one has replied to me, even by email, I assume I already have my answer and that this is a change meant to stay.

Well thanks still

On Reddit Kevin answered me saying he expected only “top cast” from a movie to be counted and that my mileage seems to be seeing guest actors on shows ads not included either.

My stats are so boring now, no overlap at all even though I’ve seen several things pairs of film or tv with the same actor.

It wasn’t like this before. An appearance in film or tv was an appearance no matter the role.

Thanks for the patience here. I want to give a clear answer and more context.

This is an intentional change.

We now cut off cast credits at a top-billed threshold instead of counting every single appearance. That cutoff is the same one we already use for an actor’s “Known for” section on their profile.

Why we did this

Previously, counting all appearances caused a widespread issue for users. A good example is Stan Lee (rest in peace). Because of his Marvel cameos, he often ended up as the most watched actor for many people. While he technically qualifies as an actor, that result was clearly not what most users expected or wanted from their stats.

So while this change does negatively impact some people, it also fixed stats that were objectively misleading for others. Unfortunately, there’s no single rule that works perfectly for everyone.

What could improve this

We’re open to adjusting the threshold itself. Having no cutoff at all would reintroduce the original problem and break stats for a lot of other VIP users. That’s why some threshold needs to exist.

If I told you the threshold is currently 10, meaning only the first 10 top-billed cast members are taken into account, what do you think the cutoff should be?

What we’ll improve based on your feedback

I totally get that this makes stats feel “emptier” for some of you, especially if you enjoyed seeing broader overlaps. That feedback is valid, and this isn’t us trying to hand-wave it away. It’s simply a case where fixing one class of incorrect results unfortunately exposes another.

Looking ahead to V3, we’re exploring:

  • a dynamic or settings-based solution that would let users choose their own cutoff for shows and movies,
  • a more progressive way to display stats and people profiles, where top-billed appears at the top level, with the ability to drill down into a fuller list.

:folded_hands: Appreciate everyone laying out their concerns clearly in this thread!

I understand both sides, so a setting or even better a toggle in the YIR would be a good solution for me

I understand the change, but I really hate it.

Thanks for the answer, very appreciated.

But,
It should be an option in the settings or something similar. You should give users the choice between showing the top 10 credits or all credits. (Including guest stars)

Or maybe show both options: first the top 10 credits, and below that, all credits like it was before.

Personally, I want it the way it was before — that’s what I’m paying for. So I would really appreciate it if you could find a solution that satisfies both users’ needs.

I really need this stats. And I really want to keep been a VIP, I’m here for 8 years it is because I like it. (But I don’t see myself paying 60$, if I can’t have those stats)

And please, don’t remove the possibility to continue to use the website version the old version (I personally only use the web version)

Thanks again.

I too prefer how it was before rather than introducing an arbitrary cut-off.

I would go for the first idea, have them be interchangeable alternatives in the settings. While you’re at it, you could have a third option which ranks actors according to combined screentime.
