Year in Review 2025 feedback

Can we not change the year in review theme anymore?

There’s less statistics this year compared to last year.

I’m mostly looking for the genre and country statistics. The only thing I can see related to genre is the deep dive which is just weird comedy subgenres that means nothing, where’s the amount of horror movies and thrillers I watched this year?

I edited your post title and moved the question in title in your first post.

This is something we have removed for the moment because it was causing issues.

Can you pin point what is missing for you specifically?

Look for the Other Genres in the Genres section, there’s a chevron next to it that you can click to expand.

That’s good, I’ll discuss the counties with the team. It has been removed mostly because a lot of people stick to one or two countries for their media consumption. But I see the value in having it back for the people that watch a lot of content from different countries.

We already filter out a lot of sub-genres. Can you give an example of a sub-genre that means nothing to you?
My Year in Review says Drama and my most watched sub-genre is Anthology, which is cool to know because there’s a difference between drama and draaamaaaa

Does the Hide button not work for anyone else?? Very annoying to include a button to hide this huge banner only for it to not work!

Not just you. Tried both portrait and landscape on my phone before giving up and just resigning myself to scrolling past the banner every time I open the dashboard.

The library items count for me is wildly wrong. It’s showing that I added all 16k items in my library this year at the summary level.

When I drill into it, they’re correctly distributed across various years and show as adding 1577 items (at time of writing) this year

Looking into this. It will be fixed. Thanks for your feedback!

We’ll look into this and fix it as soon as possible. Thanks!

Wow, I found it. Not going to lie, it’s very unintuitive, I had no idea that was even clickable. It just looks like it’s telling me I watched x amount of other genres. It even took me a while to realise I could switch the stats to show movies instead of shows.

A global movie/show toggle at the top would be good, currently you have to switch it to movies for every single category separately. So last night this wasn’t working but it seems to work now, my bad.

As for the sub genres, things like “amused” and “hilarious” doesn’t really mean much when it’s already about comedy. Also are we able to switch that genre deep dive to otrher genres? I’d like to know what horror sub genres it has there for me

We’re looking making it clearer.

No problem, glad it’s working now!

Fair point, it’s not always interesting to see the sub-genres especially when they are too generic. We’ll see how we can improve that.

We’re looking into it. No promises, but something we’d also like.

How do I view this year’s in a previous format?

I’ve been using the YIR to track a map of the countries I’ve watched movies from this year and now that I’m about to watch a movie from the final country in the world, the map has gone!

I saw last year that I only watched movies from 4 countries, so made a point of watching from more this year (just hit 225)

This is not possible, the new data doesn’t work with the older templates… and the other way around.
What else (other than countries) are you looking for?

Just countries really. I’ve been using the 2023 template all year to track it, and thankfully taking screenshots every 10 countries, so I know it was working 6 days ago

I was going to go back and fill in the countries that are now grey due to the fact that Trakt only pulls through 1 country from TMDB and can often switch which one it selects when TMDB has multiple options.

It would have just been much easier to do using the map

Hello! I have to say that I miss some statistics, too, above all broken down separately for movies and tv shows! Why removing things (especially after the controversial VIP price bump)?

Some things were aleady mentioned here, but in comparision to YiR 2024, it seems that I can’t see:

  • Hours watched, broken down by movies and series
  • Genres watched (incl. percentage distribution), broken down by movies and series
    • Detailed genre stats are only for my dominant genre (movies and shows combined :see_no_evil_monkey:)
  • Production countries for shows
  • Direct links to my year’s Trakt history for movies or shows.

This was nice and informative last year (for shows and movies each!):

For me, in the “Stats” and “People” Section it shows the wrong values.
It didnt watch 96 Shows on Fridays but 96 Episodes.

And over the Year it wasnt 555 Shows.

And also i like to second what DocTriv wrote. The YiR 2024 (and all other YiR before) had lots of better statistic value. Now we only have one Graph for hours watched an its only in combination of Movies and Shows.

And also with the 2025 Design at the moment i dind´t even know how many shows i watched.
I´m also missing the Hours and Plays Breakdown into “per Month/Week/Day”

The “Most Replayed” is to be honest kind of a useless category to have kept in considering the ones eliminated.

Although it did highlight an issue I’d never been aware of: if one starts watching something on Plex, stops it and returns the next day to finish, while Plex accurately counts that as one play, Trakt counts both instances.

I also enjoyed the monthly trends section in the past few Year in Reviews, why has that been removed?

For the love of god just give me the same amount of information and maybe the theme from 2024… I should’ve screenshotted my current year in review when it was still the “old” layout a few weeks back. What a damn shame. I always want MORE stats on my stats tracking site, not LESS.

Things I don’t want/need in the 2025 YIR:

  • Social Butterfly; completely useless in my oponion
  • Community’s Top Rated movies and show; I don’t care, this is my year in review, no one else’s
  • Community’s Top 5 most replayed; again, I don’t care, my year in review, no one else’s
  • “But enough about you here’s a glimpse of our 2025.”; The wording on this comes off completely wrong and dismissive. Just keep it to “Thank you for being a part of our community! Here’s a glimpse of our 2025. (don’t bold our)

There seems to be a lot of wasted space at the start of the review with the giant plain text “Welcome to your Year in Review” and rather dull 2025 image.

It would be nice if the first play/last play would get larger artwork like the most plays/lengthiest plays gets below. I also preferred the previous year how first play was at the top, and last play was at the bottom.

In most plays, the font should be bigger for the total time and play count

Things I would like from the 2024 YIR that are missing:

  • I miss the little “Directed By” badge at the top showing that it’s my summary
  • The weekly breakdown with the bar graph was one of my favorite features along with the hours and plays below it, please bring it back
  • While the Genre Deep dive is neat, I miss the listing of most watched genres. It showed me what percentage they were, and I could click on them to further deep dive what I watched.
  • Please bring back the Countries map
