I want to be able to delete movie n series from my favorites. How do I do that???
Assuming you means your recommended favorites, that can be edited like any other list at https://trakt.tv/users/me/recommendations.
how do you remove favorites if you used the “manage” button and moved all items to a private list (then deleted private list)?
Now all the items that I moved are stuck favorited even though my favorites list is empty and no favorites shows up on my profile.

You can use “manage”, that has the effect of selecting all you items in your favorites list, then you can “move” them and do the same to “delete” them all.
When hey are all deleted from your favorites, they won’t be displayed on your profile anymore.
Make sure to move them in a list before and double-check that that list is okay before deleting.
