What just happened? Some of the episodes of random shows were marked as unwatched. And some shows now have whole seasons in the middle of the show marked as unwatched

As @epikur mentioned, it’s not the first time this has happened. Good thing is, that most of the time I watch episodes more or less when they’re released, so now just marked again as watched on a release date, even though it’s not entirely accurate
You may need further individual help from the admins in such a case. If it’s not client-side reversible as it is here each and every time it might not be the same problem.
I think this happens if someone modified the episodes, so they don’t match existing data anymore. I do see this happen quite often from time to time and I end up having to re-mark the episode as watched, backdated to release date, and it’s frustrating because the timing stats won’t be exactly accurate for that episode anymore.
That’s my guess, that it has something to do with the data in the source being modified in a way that unlinks from the existing watched data. I would think there would be a way to work around that but I suppose it would depend on exactly what part of the data has been changed and caused this unlinking from the watched data.
@justin, if that would help in any way, it was Kingdom hospital final episode (although I think it was episode 15 ) and Ancient Aliens every episode in seasons 9 and 10
Because of the transition to TMDB, some shows data is getting duplicated and when we fix it, sometimes views go with it. We try our best to have as little impact on our users’ history, but sometimes it can’t be helped. We appreciate your continued patience.
And yes, sometimes it is just because someone decided to incorrectly change data at TMDB.

I have opened a ticket at https://support.trakt.tv/ for Ancient Aliens season 9 & 10 as its interactions (views, collects, lists) should be significanly higher compared to other seasons.
