Hidden vs. "Dropped" & view completed/watched shows

Short description of the issue

  • With this new version I see all the shows that I had hidden previously, but the picture is in black/white. Do I have to drop all these shows manually to have them disappear again?

  • I can’t see my completed/watched shows in the “Continue watching” section even when I toggle the “Hide watched” filter button (it seems to do nothing?)

  • Are these known issues or am I missing something?

Hi,
The shows that are showing up in black/white on your “continue watching” were hidden, not dropped. You will have to drop them for them to disappear.
If you use this link, you should be able to see a button to drop them all.

The “Continue Watching” section is only for the shows you haven’t finished at the moment. We have something planned to display all shows you have completed, all that are in progress and all that you have dropped in a different section.

What about hidden seasons? They can’t be “dropped” like shows and now they are back cluttering my data in V3. Any plans to have a solution to fix that? Thank you!

Hi,
Are those seasons you have skipped? Or seasons of a show you no longer plan to watch?

If you no longer plan to watch the show, we recommend that you drop it. Unless, you have a reason why you don’t want to do that. If you do, please explain your use.

If you mean past seasons you don’t want to watch, the “Continue Watching” section should “skip” them. I’ll use a show I watch as an example. I did not watch seasons 1-4, I started watching it on season 5 and it is currently airing season 9. I’ve watched every episode from seasons 5-9 and since I’m up to date with the latest episode, that show doesn’t show up in my “Continue Watching” section. Once a new episode releases, it comes back until I watch that episode.
If I ever decide I want to watch season 1, the show will come back to the “Continue Watching” section after I watch the 1st episode. And it will show me episode 2 as the next one.

Do you have an example of a show in your “Continue Watching” where those 2 options wouldn’t help?

Hello,
thank you very much for your detailed reply.

The seasons I would like to hide/drop are seasons I have skipped. That’s especially useful for “anthology series”, where every season is conceived as a stand alone story.

As an example, I watched Season 1 of “American Crime Story”; I skipped Season 2 (not being interested in the Versace’s case) and I’m now watching Season 3. “Continue watching” shows me the correct episode to watch next (S3-E9), but the problem is that it also shows 11 episodes remaining, when in reality I just miss the last two from Season 3 (the other 9 are from Season 2, that I’ll never watch).
I think the ability to also drop seasons is very important, especially if a real “progress” page is actually in the works to be back in V3, so that completion percentages will not include dropped seasons.

Hi,
I agree that it would be better if the number of “remaining” episodes updated correctly if you decide to skip some episodes. This also allows something we didn’t have on v2, the ability to just skip an episode.
I’ve reported that issue to the developers and they will see what can be done to fix it. Thanks for the feedback!

Adding to this: currently, Taskmaster is airing their latest season. I don’t have an interest in watching the current cast, so am skipping until the next season. Previously, I could hide the season and it would re-appear when the next season started. I cannot do this anymore, and am therefore stuck with either it being in my continue watching, or have to drop the show and remember to check for when the next season starts to pick it back up again.
