When searching for titles that include single quotes (e.g. “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Don’t Look Up”, …) without writing the single quote (e.g. “greys anatomy”, “dont look up” ), the correct title isnt found.
This makes automatically finding the correct movie/show from url-encoded titles impossible. Please fix this.
edit: ok so “grey’s anatomy” is seemingly found correctly now, and I couldnt reproduce the issue with the word “let’s”. But the issue remains with the word “don’t” and “what’s”. I havent tested anything else, feel free to add any findings you make.
I would assume that trakt uses the levenshtein-distance to find a words nearest match to a dictionary. If your dictionary doesnt contain single-qouted words, check out this list on github which does include the words “don’t” and “what’s”.
We just released a major update to Trakt search that can handle typos, punctuation (or lack of punctuation) and get much more accurate search results. The Trakt website, official apps, and all 3rd party apps that use the Trakt search API will have way better results now. Let us know if it works better for you!
I know this is old but I’m not understanding how the search works. If I search the exact title, I will get anything but the title I wanted.
For example when I search “Jailbreak Love on the Run,” the one that is called that doesn’t come up but the first option is “One-Punch Man”
It doesn’t have even ONE of the words I searched. I find this happens often. The search is very off every time I search it doesn’t bring up what I want. I end up searching via google and add trakt. I love the site but that search is seriously lacking.
