I’d like to suggested changing the design a bit in order to make the years in the browsing section more legible. I’ve attached an image to show the problem with some shows/movies that have a lighter background. It makes it quite difficult to read the year next to the name.
I just changed the grey color to a light grey and made the shadow a bit darker.

The shadow is the key. Because the color behind the year can potentially be any color (including the exact same color), there needs to be a high-contrast border or shadow outlining the numbers. Several of the years in the “before” picture are completely invisible without expanding the images. I agree, your mockup looks much easier to read.
I’ll improve the contrast of the year in the new website update later this week.
