VIP user here, user of iOS and MacOS. I’ve just got to complain about how difficult and unnecessarily convoluted. It is to simply stop watching a show because you’re not interested in it anymore, particularly on iOS. I see no three little dots in the app on the show’s screen. Long presses here and there, etc… I can’t figure it out on iOS and frankly using the website on Safari on my MacBook, I see how you can use the little stop icon under a show, but then it hides it instead of just removing it from my queue or Calendar or whatever.
I can’t be the only one that feels this way. I can’t figure it out in the iOS app at all.
Further, say I start watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine and watch four episodes and it’s just not working for me so I just wanna stop? I don’t want to hide the show, I might wanna come back to it in a few months or something.
There’s gotta be an easier way to just stop watching something without totally hiding it.
Unhiding them is probably the harder part to find as you currently have to go via the website settings.
It only “hides” from the up next/progress, and then calendar if you choose to. It’s the closest we have to ‘Drop’/‘Stop Watching’ at the moment.
I believe we’re looking at making this a bit easier in the near future so if you have any specific examples of what you’d prefer to see (and where) please let us know. Somewhere on the show page makes a lot of sense so you can find it via search and manage it there.
I am in 100% agreement with the OP that removing a show is a nightmare. Something that BTW doesn’t only apply to Trakt but is something that also occurs with for example Amazon Prime and their “continue watching” list.
The current “hiding” option is fine to have. There are definitely some shows I might return to at some point but just not want to have cluttering up my screen until I want to go back to it.
Yet, as the OP points out, there are quite a few shows everyone encounters at some point where 10 minutes in, or maybe even 3-4 episodes in, you reach the conclusion that the series just isn’t something you want to continue watching nor will you ever go back to it.
For shows like that there needs to be a “Drop” option and maybe a “Drop and delete from all lists” which would take it off every single list you may have added it to. I guess for interests sake an automatic removal to a “Dropped” list could be useful too because that way you wouldn’t accidentally go back a few years later and try to watch it again.
