More accurate TV Show Status’

If you want to implement more accurate status info without waiting for TMDB you could scrape the info from the website below. All you would need to build is a simple matching system linked to the RSS feed items, matching based on the title, network and year. This way you could update items with more than just ended, you’ll also get concluded and cancelled, just a thought :blush:

Ended on TMDb is the same as concluded. (unless you mean ended to be open ended or something? But I don’t see the benefit of it, not to mention that it’s just a tad bit subjective). On TMDb there’s also a status Cancelled. This info is also getting pulled from the API:

I know that TMDB has Ended (didn’t know about cancelled) but to my knowledge they’re rarely updated. The website I linked however, updates almost daily with multiple status’ including renewed which to my knowledge doesn’t exist on TMDB?

There are the options on TMDb:

Returning series (renewed) doesn’t show up as a status on Trakt. That just has data of when it airs (cancelled/ended shows don’t have that information).

Ah I stand corrected then hahaha, nonetheless I’d like to see some form of this on the website at some point :relaxed:

Haha, no worries! It’s not something users who are not actually editing over at tmdb would know I suppose! :slight_smile:

I also saw that it’s possible to filter the TV section with different statuses.

@justin
Is there a functional difference between Continuing and Returning?

Or is it because some status are used on tvdb, and shows that haven’t been switched yet cause these “double” statuses? (also in production and upcoming)

It’s because of the different statuses on TMDB and TVDB like you said.
