šŸ’¬ New Trakt Feedback

I need the Progress tab back. I used to use it all the time for sorting my show, usually by time left, but also by many other criteria depending on my needs at that moment. Now it’s all gone. There’s only history, which doesn’t allow to filter out individual episodes anymore (I used to use the ā€œshowsā€ view all the time), and Continue watching, which is not sortable in any way. Unfortunately I still haven’t found an app that fully replaces Trakt (what it used to have anyway), but I’m migrating to Showly for now (sadly mobile only and a forced dark mode). If anyone has any better recommendations, please let me know.

That’s true, but it has more features. Unfortunately I haven’t found anything better yet, if I do, I’ll switch. But I’m truly okay with continuing supporting Trakt (as a free user though), if they improve again (which I highly, highly doubt, but hope dies last). That’s why I posted it, making it known what feature I miss, in case the devs are actually interested in fixing anything.

Hi Kevin

What I could really use at the moment since I must now use the new layout is a how to guide on how to use the core features that I used previously e.g. how do I rate an episode or film, there’s only the option to remove the watched thing when I click the three dots on that item in my history. Also, ā€œwhere is my historyā€ was a question I spend a long time trying to figure out after I had marked something in the Continue Watching section as watched.

Definitely a how to guide on how to use the basic features of Trakt in the new layout would be so useful - despite having used computers for about 25 years at this point and having a degree in software engineering, I’m not finding it very intuitive :frowning: but as with any new software, I’m willing to read a manual to learn to use it!

Hi, can you please add tooltips to all the icons/buttons ? we can’t tell what is the action of a button unless you click on it or inspect the HTML code.

I think the only buttons with tooltips are on the left side bar (seach, home …)

re CSV exports

not sure, I thought it would be in the Data section… maybe it’s been removed?

how to see another seasons and episodes? where is tmdb link? imdb link? v3 is so worse. just delete it from server

One of the features that we had that I would greatly appreciate it if we could have it again, it’s the percentage. Being able organise the shows by duration, popularity, or number of episodes left, is something I’m also missing hugely. With this feature we can organize the shows or rearrange them and be able to finish the series that we have almost finished. I actually enjoy the new version and the clean and modern look, but those 2 features mainly, the percentage and being able to arrange the shows we’re watching is something that for me it’s a must and super super useful

Trakt Web: Settings You can export raw data from here, everything. But json format not csv. In V2 i don’t see the exporting either, i remember like it was under Advanced tho

I wonder about this too.

Since this comment seems to be the last time you commented publicly on V3 …

Now that V3 is being forced upon non-VIP users, with no option to use the functional V2 interface. If you look at V3 and how it works currently, are you proud of this as a successor to the V2 interface you designed?

This comment says AI isn’t involved in coding, but the publicly available code for the new interface includes AI instructions .. any comment?

Showly is a good option and way better than the Trakt app. Who can also try SeriesGuide. I tend to use both phone apps for different things and both connect to Trakt.

I am able to install both apps onto my laptop, but they both work better on my phone though.

I usually use the export symbol on the V2 history page… usually the last symbol at the top I think.

  • Just make sure to break it down and export only a certain date range at a time. If it’s too large an export, then it might crash

He won’t comment, none of them will. They don’t really care about user feedback anymore. This new ā€œTrakt V3ā€ is literally ā€œTrakt Liteā€ from two years ago. Since then, they barely added anything to make it better despite tons of feedback here and on Github, it took them 2 years to realize that maybe, MAYBE they should add persistent sorting to personal lists. And yet, for some unknown reason, they decided to push and force users to use it when they clearly know it was not ready, it is still not ready, and it won’t be nearly close to feature parity six months from now.

This new website is objectively vibe-coded with Gemini, and they know we can check that. It not only has all the visual traits of a generic UI made with AI, but it also features worse performance and way worse UX.

There’s absolutely no reason to push for this, no reason to just let their users keep using V2. They can limit free users however much they want, with item limits, history limits, or whatever, but they know that Trakt is right now a trainwreck whose only destination is shutdown.

And it won’t matter, because Trakt has such a small footprint on the internet that no one will notice it beside us, a few hundred loyal users. If Letterboxd did something like this, you would be seeing big artists and posts on social media with +100k likes protesting against changes, but here? We are just screaming at a void.

This new layout is awful. Normally I’m fine with layout changes. I didn’t even complain when Windows 8 launched. But this is objectively bad. There’s no logical defense for the UI or UX decisions.

Like Windows 8, it feels like it was designed for a tablet rather than how people actually use it. Unfortunate.

If I had the time, I’d just build my own platform with the core features I care about, mainly tracking the shows I watch, since that’s all I use it for anyway. Perhaps it’s time to switch, I’ve seen Letterboxd and a few others mentioned.

The new layout is terrible!!! It’s all compact, no space so everything looks jumbled together and there’s no difference between seen, suggested etc.

I find it hard to see the shows as the icons are all small so there’s lots of them squashed together.

Took a long time to find the horizontal scrolling option left to right and it’s useless as everything is still just jumbled and squashed together.

Preferred the vertical scrolling and upcoming episodes on my dashboard. I don’t care about the episodes/shows I’ve already seen, that’s history.

I miss the calendar, it wasn’t great but I could at least see what shows I’d missed and when my shows were airing new seasons.

Now when I see upcoming episodes, there’s no aired date.

Seriously, create a survey of your users BEFORE you update the wesite because now it’s completely useless.

Have you seen the number of people who want to bring back the old version??

I see no sign of reaction from official staff to the negative feedback. I have switched now to another service which has the core tracking features I care about with an UI I can work with.

Forcing the V3 UI on the Trakt website after already knowing about user feedback.. I have no words for that

I had a similar post like you. Expect yours to be removed and this account banned as well once the admins wake up

The AI translation using mexican regionalisms SUCKS. Why does all V3 feel like made completly by AI?

I’ve started vibe coding my own frontend for the Trakt API. To be honest, it’s going better than I expected, and I’ll probably keep iterating and use it instead of the official website…
