As we roll out the New Trakt default web experience, we know that some of the features many of you use every day are not there yet or are not as complete as in Trakt Classic.
That is expected at this stage and we are working as fast as we can to close the gaps.
Why are we doing this again?
We do not want to simply copy features from Classic as they are.
This is an opportunity to modernize, improve consistency across platforms, and fix long-standing friction while still supporting the workflows you rely on.
Your feedback is the key to making the new experience better than ever.
What is the one thing you are missing the most?
Let us know:
Which feature you really need in the New Trakt
Why it matters to your experience
How you would like to see it work or be improved
Whether it is a big workflow blocker or a small detail you use daily, we want to hear it.
How your input helps
Your comments will help us:
Understand real-world use cases
Prioritize what gets built next
Share clearer progress updates
We will follow up soon with what we learned and what is coming next.
Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
Trakt has always been shaped by its community and this next chapter is no different.
My biggest wish for the New Trakt is being able to scroll vertically, in stead of endless scrolling horizontally. I am also aware that this fundamentally screws with your current UX/UI setup.
It matters to me because my brain registers the old trakt as clear, fresh and certainly not cluttered. The new trakt doesnāt work for me in that way, since I cannot āoverseeā my dashboard at one glance.
For me, Iād like a toggle.
Also reacting your anouncement of New Trakt:
It already delivers a smoother, more reliable and more accessible experience with a consistent design across web, iOS, Android, Apple TV and Android TV, along with broader support for more devices, regions and languages.
You are clearly seeing this as fit for future, the way to go forward. You are stating the new designs as smoother, more reliable Ć”nd more accessible. I believe āmore modernā was also used in that same post. So what makes you say that? It comes across as you stating facts, so what research have you done and can you show us the ānumbersā?
My only references are what I read (selectively) on the forums and my own personal opinions and preferences. That is why I am eager to understand how you, the Trakt team, came to these conclusions and subsequent UX/UI changes.
Since Trakt Lite was introduced, there was a lot of feedback and people simply didnāt use it, because it was shit. Honestly. For me personally it was completely unusable not only because of missing features, but the UI was only half baked and didnāt work properly neither on mobile nor on desktop. Was everything addressed? Iām afraid to even try it again if Iām not able to switch back
What I can share is that the metrics (monthly active users, new sign ups, retention and churn, overall satisfaction,ā¦) we are following are not showing any negative impact. I would personally love to share more about this. Iāll just check with the team how we can communicate about it.
Just to be clear, and I think you said it in the another thread, we also follow trends in our industry and rely on the expertise of our design and engineering team that is evolving too. So, while we look at our metrics and customer feedback to make sure we are not totally off track, we also make assumptions and try things.
A lot of things have changed in a year. Not sure everything has been addressed when I donāt know your specific usage or what matters to you specifically.
I have to try to use it more then, but in the first minute I just had to switch back, because of the useless most prominent āNow playingā block, which is always visible on every page and takes at least a quarter of the screen Very distracting from the actual content I want to see. Why canāt it be a narrow non-fixed strip as it used to?
Vertical up next and the old version of the iOS app.
You increased prices by 100% for VIP membership itās been the utter most frustrating thing when you donāt even listen to your paid members who of angry
The new web version is ugly and not useful. Do not ever remove the classic version
Can you please share more info about your device? Itās always displayed but it shouldnāt take a quarter of the screen. A screenshot would be super helpful.
If you had to choose one, which would it be?
You can still get a vertical list in a single tap. What if we made that even easier?
I understand the frustration of the price increase. I donāt understand why you are saying we donāt listen to our angry paid members.
To you, it may be ugly and not useful. But you are not really saying what is ugly and/or not useful.
If we are just talking about the vertical up next, it is there, one tap away. And Iām repeating myself, but if you tell us, we can make it better.
Noticed also trending is useless, because on lots of posters you canāt even read a title and thereās no other info at all. And recommended is hidden by āNow playingā
As I said - Lite both UI and UX are a complete disaster and I stand by it. Even a year later..
And I keep telling you (as in, the users complaining, not you specifically) that the people complaining are not all our users and that we are not ignoring anyone.
We are maintaining and improving our infrastructure and Classic website, while shipping new features and new experiences, while not breaking every integration we have with third-party. It may be slower to fix an issue on the Classic website and thatās the point of the New Trakt and the whole announcement.
And we are fixing them, while also doing all the other things.
The price increase was made to cover infrastructure costs and the growing team. Yes, we have future plans. Yes, things are going to change. Weāre not making those changes to justify anything. We are making changes and improve a product we deeply love and care about to make it better. Thatās the only justification there is.
And yet, here we are.
Iām sorry to hear that, truly. But I donāt think forcing anyone on a paying product they donāt like is the way to go either.
If what you are saying is you will stay with us on the free plan, thatās all good too.
I took one look at the new website and really disliked it so much, I donāt know where to start offering constructive criticism other than it would be best to abandon before you spend anymore time on it.
Classic website is still far superior for windows desktop, and the iOS app is best for iPad and iPhone.
The new website is so bad that initially I thought I was looking at one of Traktās competitors that is miles behind.
Sorry if this is not the sort of feedback you want, but it is just really, really bad.
Okay, I guess we are not counting from the same edges or something like this
I mean, itās not more than a quarter of the screen in any way I can see it.
But I get your point, itās big enough to be annoying when itās not what you want.
It is only there when you are watching something tho (and a little after but you can close it then).
Iāll get your feedback across the team anyway.
You can scroll it up and down vertically.
If we increase the size of the posters, youāll see even less vertically and horizontally.
Are you comparing this to the āoldā website? Or to an app (official or not)?
I understand the overwhelming feeling, no problem. I already like that you made the distinction between devices/screens. Maybe you can send over some feedback on specific use cases you have for discovering new content or tracking your viewing or sharing comments or logging your rating,⦠I would love to hear from you, even if itās a long list. I can get the essence of it and take it from there. You can send private messages if itās easier. Whatever works for you
They will eventually force the ānew and betterā experience on us like they usually do, without even thinking about what any of us wants.
Kevin pretends he cares, but we all know heās gonna push his āproduct managerā ideas no matter what.
Once Trakt Classic is gone, Iām out for good
Kevin, you wanna know why we dislike the Lite version so much - because a year later it is still as barebones as a website of this sort can be, while we keep on hearing about ānew featuresā and options for us to use.
Every time I try using it I gag a little, because it can be seen from a mile away that it was designed by people with little to no experience in proper UX/UI design and management.
How come a year later the Progress and History pages are either missing or super hard to find. The Profile section is so plain and uninteresting. It has zero personality. What did you work a whole year on, really? Whereās the Library, where are the Notes?
@justin are you really ok with all your hard work and cool features introduced the last couple of years going to waste for THIS? What happened to you, man?
