I had used the âLiteâ version once or twice before and I was completely lost in the interface and it had sucked because I thought Iâd accidentally clicked something to load a mobile version of the site and couldnât revert to the web version anymore. After 15 minutes, I realised that that the URL had changed and could switch back to trakt.tv from the `app.` version.
While I do love the design on the mobile, I agree with the sentiment that the desktop app needs to be a lot more robust looking and featuristic - which it is on Classic. I like the overall UI but there are tons of UX features which felt natural and intuitive which I am sorely missing after testing it out.
Mark as Watched now supports only current time as far as I could see, and I would like the option of past time or a little in the future as supported in Classic. I tend to come back after some time and mark something as watched after either doing a marathon, or just catching up on shows.
The rating system going only to 5 and now stars (instead of the hearts that I loved, pun intended) feels okay, but in this case, I would like a half star option.
The entire episode page has tiny fonts on my 4k screen. The season text is not clickable for me to go to that season of the show. The list UI itself is nice, but imagine the pain for me on desktop to click on the âListedâ button and then move all the way to the other end of the screen to choose the list.
Any of the lists section btw remain unscrollable. There is no scroll option. The âPopular Listsâ title itself in not clicable to open any vertical view and you can clearly see the last list being clipped indicating that this wasnât how it was intended to show. To re-emphasize, this is true for all lists, especially the âMy Listsâ page where I can now only see upto 4 lists or so with no option to see any of my other lists.
Spacing of items on the desktop, especially large screens, seems to be not thought through. I like the tiny (cute looking) thumbnails, but somehow still get lost in what I came to the page for. The Classic version has pages for the seasons, and their associated comments which I use and find quite helpful for me to ascertain how the show has been progressing.
I miss seeing ratings for shows, episodes and movies. They help me with discovery and choosing what to watch next. I do consider Trakt rating to be much more reliable than other sites. And I do miss my home page dashboard with those numbers and stats, with the VIP OG badge, the brilliant cover image banner, my favourites showing on top and nice separate lists of shows vs movies watched.
The history page has lost its charm too with so many filters and sort options gone (I have used to find the next best recommendations for my friends from what I have watched).
So yeah, there are way too many things that I feel are missing from a power userâs perspective. And I wish that the classic version remains till there is some sort of feature parity on the new one.
