how can I export my data as CSV? Settings doesn’t show an option. Only JSON.
Which specific data are you looking to export? The CSV options exist on the pages for the data you are seeking, hence the reason someone made this request: One Click CSV Export
But if you were for example looking to export your CSV data of your watch history, go to that page and then top right:
I tried that, apparently our data is being held hostage until we pay for premium. Another reason to be looking for alternatives.

No, there’s a GDPR compliant JSON export.
EU (emphasis mine):
The data subject shall have the right to receive the personal data concerning him or her, which he or she has provided to a controller, in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and have the right to transmit those data to another controller
