Hello,
Sometimes I find it quite annoying when clicking on an actor/actress to see what productions they’ve been in and there’s a massive amount of “making of” or talk show appearances or reunion stuff diluting the list, making it harder to find relevant stuff.
A suggestion to solve this would be to add the filter to hide (and/or fade) titles where the person is listed as self/herself/himself. Another alternative could be to bunch those together at the bottom of the page.
Best regards,
Patric
Yes! This!
So annoying and irrelevant as in who would actually track those kinds of things.
Perhaps have another tab like the director, producer etc tabs?

What happens to movies or shows when the actor is actually appearing as themself as a cameo or the like?

Good point, lets take Stan Lee or Alfred Hitchcock for instance…

Sir Alfred Joseph Hitchcock, KBE (13 August 1899 – 29 April 1980), was an English director and producer. Labeled as the "Master of Suspense", he became known for thrillers, often combined with a dark sense of humor. After a successful career in his...
In these instances I think it would work quite well.
Another example Hugh Jackman had a cameo in Night at the Museum 3, does have his name listed as his role so maybe like @patricafdw mentioned it could only filter where the person is listed as self/herself/himself.
Hugh Michael Jackman (born 12 October 1968) is an Australian actor. Beginning in theatre and television, he landed his breakthrough role as Wolverine / Logan in the X-Men film series (2000–2017), a tenure that earned him the Guinness World Record for...
Also as there are already rules for this on TMDB it should match for most instances.
Qoute from TMDB Contribution Bible:
Self Appearances
“Self” is the preferred character name for self appearances (e.g. award shows, documentaries, reality shows, game shows). This change was made on July 28, 2020. Previously Himself/Herself/Themself was used. Feel free to update old credits when you encounter them.
Firstname Lastname should be used when someone plays themself in a scripted movie or TV series. For example, Pete Wentz himself did not date Peyton Sawyer, “Pete Wentz” the character did.

Great idea.
Check out a similar solution I have to this that accomplishes the same thing and more!
Instead of checking off movies and/or TV shows under “types” on filters, this would instead be listed below the actor/director/writer etc… buttons with the added “specials” which would include anything that’s not a feature film or a tv show. This would include behind the scenes, short films, talk shows, etc… This would make it much easier to filter out movies and tv shows from all of the other stuff and make actor and director pages less cluttered.
