I’m canceling my membership as of today.

I wonder whether these mails are sent in batches?

(My renewal is in September and I am, uhm was, in the $30/year group)

My renewal only went through recently (think it was March), was on the $15/year plan

Not received any notification of a price increase

In the UK if that makes any difference to emails sent out

I’m in the UK, I received my email yesterday however my renewal isn’t until the end of the October although I doubt your recent renewal would have any bearing on this.

Always paid manually with PayPal because I don’t have a creditcard. Last year I found out they added support on PayPal for debit card too and asked for a personal subscription link.

I was warned by another VIP (whom I got into Trakt) - he got his, I never got mine.

We’re both cancelling.

I’m one of those that missed the ‘lock in’ offer last August, so I was always going to pay $60 on renewal (if I renewed).

I was going to cancel, not because I don’t think Trakt is worth $60 a year, but it galled me that I was paying between twice and four times the amount that others would pay, year after year after year if I stayed.

Now that it is a level playing field, I’m sitting on the fence. Still have till next January to decide before renewal.

Having said that, will Trakt be around for much longer? Judging by the backlash (that’s if people are really cancelling like they say and not just letting off steam in the heat of the moment), then this may be the beginning of the end anyway for Trakt.

I wouldn’t be on the fence. For me it’s not the money (though I’ve two VIP accounts so double the extra cost) it’s the reneging on promises, on assurances, on many things they’ve stated in the last six months. The trust is now eroded and I doubt many will believe anything Trakt come out with from now on. After all, they change their minds in a blink, take things away that were supposedly guaranteed without a second thought. Who’s to say in a month or two they won’t introduce an even more expensive tier and the current VIP gets levels dropped to what the free tier was a year ago? At this point they don’t care about their users, just the money, so can pretty much do what they like. If people take the “I’ll wait and see” approach it basically means they’ve won

No email. But it seems I’m in the minority. Maybe it’s timing since I renewed recently.

that does make sense on the stance of keeping vip.

I didn’t receive an email. I assume that is because I disabled notifications for marketing after receiving unwanted emails from the Trakt team on things I didn’t care about. Personally, I would think a change in cost would be sent to users regardless of that setting. I guess I should be happy they are respecting my privacy as requested /s.

I received the email. I cancelled my auto-renewal immediately. My plan renewed last month, but there’s no way I’m paying $60/year for the VIP features of this app starting next April. The only VIP feature I find value in is the iOS widget. One can only assume that the company is having funding issues to make such a drastic price increase. Hopefully, this isn’t the beginning of the end for Trakt, but if it is, I enjoyed the app for 6+ years!

Just 4 months ago they mentioned they weren’t.

Truth be told. $30/year for the VIP features was too expensive. I really felt like an idiot opting into the plan but I’m big on aesthetics and really wanted the widgets. Fast-forward 6 years and I realize that the widgets aren’t useful enough to justify $30/year.

My renewal is on May 20. I have receive NO email. I am not paying 2x the price w/4 days notice simply because I happened to notice a Reddit thread, not communication from Trakt.

What an abysmal customer experience.

I got the email yesterday, I pay as much as you do and my renewal is also in september. So I still have VIP until then, but will be fully deleting my account as well, instead of keeping free tier.
