When searching movies and shows via the website, how are they sorted by default? Is it sorted by the most recently updated titles?
Search is sorted by the score (most relevant results first), based on your search query. You can change this to sort by year if you’d like. https://trakt.tv/settings#search

Searches all of the text fields, with title being the highest priority and weight.
And if the search field is left empty?
Most popular I believe.
