Rating and displaying season ratings

Am I blind or in new version of app is not possible to check what rating I gave for season of series? Also is it possible to rate season of series already?

Seems to be gone from the new layout. The overall season viewing UI experience is terrible, too.

Shame.

@CanePlayz season pages will be indeed phased out, our plan is to focus more on actual consume-able content. Season related features will most likely resurface (potentially) via the season cards in the show summaries.

Not good. It’s crucial feature for me :frowning:

Phasing out season pages is a terrible idea imho. Especially for Anthology style series such as White Lotus, True Detective, True Sinner, etc. where it isn’t necessary to watch each season and reviews / ratings / info are critical.

Yeah, these features need to be brought back somehow

This one as been added to the backlog → it is currently on the “design” backlog… we need to figure out how to display and give the same experience as before without going into a specific page for each season (this is a constraint we want to keep for the time being).

@kcador What’s the reasoning behind not having season pages? I’m not so fussed about season ratings, but I do like to see synopses and runtimes per season when deciding what to watch next. Synposes are particularly important for me on shows such as Fargo where each season is a whole different story.

That is an excellent example. Thanks for your feedback!

We’d prefer to keep the useful information on the main show page and not have a specific page (with a specific layout) for seasons. Our goal here is to find a better UX mechanism than to display a full-screen page that would display only a subset of the information we can display on a show or episode or movie page.
Also: this is a low constraint, we are open to the idea of having a season page if we don’t find a better way to do it. It just that if we start by building a season page, there’s no easy “going back” compared to the more iterative approach.

American Horror Story is a good example on why having season pages is important, it’s an anthology series where each season is its own thing with a completely different setting, storyline and characters. This is something that can’t be condensed down into a synopsis of the whole show

You didn’t really answer the question. Just restated that you wanted to do it.

So I’ll bump this topic and ask again, because I really want it back too.

Why is that your goal? Why is it better? The subset of information is the whole point and what I want to see, a season of the show.

What a horrible regression, I couldn’t believe this would be yet another core feature that the “new version“ just got rid of. Please stop messing up Trakt.tv, we’re now past the point of no return, trust has been completely shattered. Open source the old version if you didn’t like it.

That would actually be very interesting. Would love to see that.

As some said, I just want a v2 clone at this point. I don’t care if it’s using trakt API and its database in the background or if it doesn’t have any new features.

@kcador Are you still planning update for season page and rating seasons? I used your web page as alternative, but you modified it also, so.. I must know if should I look for alternative?

The same with guest actors. Very usefull feature, which you removed.

In general it’s pain. Your users found perfect app. Maybe layout was obsolete, but was also very intuitive and contained all, great features.

Now you have modern layout without basic, convinient features and in addition it’s less intuitive. What is the purpose? Because you have new, different vision of your app? What with users, which decided to use your app, because of those features? From day to day you released different product.. and I’m very sad, but I suppose I will be forced to looking for alternarive if no big updates are planned in the nearest future.

ratings and season features are planned and the guest actors is also planned. The guest actors already show in the iOS app when inspecting each episode whereas the v3 webpage shows the guest actors only on the series page

I fear that this disregard for season ratings has led to a corruption of our data as I showed in this post:
https://forums.trakt.tv/t/incorrect-data-in-export/

Can someone check their export data to see if it’s still accurate, or has the migration from V2 to V3 changed our season ratings? Especially interested in results from non-VIP members, since VIP members still have access to V2.

I’m genuinely curious what prevented you from first identifying and implementing this “better UX mechanism” before forcing users onto a version that lacks many important features that were already available. For me, this is a critically important feature of your product - one that made it valuable, as it allowed me to track how a show’s quality evolved from season to season according to my personal preferences.
