I have been using Trakt since last year and honestly it’s a great app. Talking about the new UI of Trakt, I miss the previous one. It was way better than this.
The new UI is too cluttered, I can’t see different sections; while inside any tv show, previously I could just tick which season I finished watching but now I need to tick either whole tv show or individual episode, which is too frustrating.
Also the calendar section was great to keep track of which episode coming which week (I could relate more as format similar to normal calendar app) but now it just shows upcoming episode directly.
Being a programmer I can understand the UI can’t be reverted back to previous one for all users but I request you to provide choice to users which UI they want, as I would definitely prefer the previous one.
Hi, thanks for reaching out!
We have no plans to allow the old UI to be an option anymore since this new version was built from scratch.
You can still mark whole seasons as watched using this:
I also share your opinions, and would love to have the old UI back.
To add to your criticism, I can’t find an easy way to go back to previous and next episodes/movies and I have to scroll down all the way to the bottom now to view my watch history of a specific item.
It will be done first on web and then on mobile apps.
The progress page will probably look different, we want to avoid overloading the interface with everything we have.
Just a note: I know the title of this post is generic but it’s easier to follow up with your feedback if a post is focussed on a specific feedback and stays on topic.
Are season level comments coming back to iOS? That’s usually where I comment. If not, can they be gathered up and moved to the series level or first episode per season comments? I would hate to lose my years of contributions to the community.
The new app shouldn’t have been released when it’s missing so many features. At least, there should be an option to switch to the old UI, like on the website.
At this point, you’ve made trakt just like everyone else instead of being the best. That’s a step backwards, in my opinion. & it seems like people have been telling you for MONTHS not to do things, & you’ve ignored them. I’ve been using this for years, & I loved the layout. It was easy to use. I almost always used it on my computer, & this layout is clearly meant for apps. You have no intention of allowing the MANY people who are complaining about how bad it is to use the previous layout we liked, instead of force implementing a half designed layout. It’s been a few things over the years that changed, but those were things I could deal with. Limiting lists, then getting rid of the option to hide seasons or shows… You’ve removed the ability for me to click on the last watched episode, which means tracking my rewatches is more difficult. I’m aware that my word carries very little weight, but I’ve seen so many complaints from paying customers saying they’re cancelling their subscriptions & moving on. You could listen to people who keep telling you this isn’t working. Your idea of simple, is actually not. You’ve removed all the things that made trakt the best there was. Please reconsider. & yeah, I edited it, because I looked at other sites & people’s comments & realized that Trakt used to be widely regarded as one of the best, but you’ve reduced it to being like everyone else instead. Which is honestly just sad, more than anything else.
I have shows now showing back up in continue watching that previously weren’t there.
I can’t long click on a show to be able to mark a show as watched on another date.
I have shows now showing up on my calendar that I had previously hidden or dropped.
I don’t see a way to go view hidden or dropped shows like we could in our profile settings before.
I can’t click on the played check mark and be able to remove “only this play” for media with multiple plays.
I don’t know what some of the new icons mean and when you hover over them with a mouse there is no pop up saying what an icon/button might do. Give us some info, you can’t expect everyone to know what an icon might do even though you think it might be obvious.
Any yes the vertical scroll is just not acceptable for the web interface which is 99% of what I use(d).
Why take existing functionality available for years and suddenly put it behind a paywall, claiming that this somehow supports most users “workflows”, presumably using data that includes people successfully doing those same workflows in v2?
Another good product entshittified, well done folks.
I lost all my collected movies and tv shows? That was 80% of why I was using the website.
Why can’t I rate out of 10 anymore? 5 stars is less information.
I can’t even click to the next episode of a tv show on the page of an episode.
Am I the last person to have been rolled into this hideous new UI? All the image clutter is really annoying.
That aside, a whole bunch of stuff is in my calendar which I must’ve watched once but then hid when I was uninterested. I’m not seeing a way to remove all these things from my calendar.
I’ve used this site for many years and this redesign is much less user friendly.
like others I feel like this forced update is awful.
so far the issues I have encountered:
I don’t know what all the new icons and colours mean, and there is no tooltip or information about this.
things I had already marked as watched are showing up in my “continue watching” but there doesn’t seem to be a way to mark them watched on the release date, the three dots only gives me a choice of “remove from watchlist” or “drop show” and clicking the check mark just marks it as watched today.
the calendar doesn’t always load. It just sits there with a film reel spinning for a long time.
not everything is loading in the rows on my home page, if I make my broswer wider then more things show up, but there is no way to scroll across the screen as far as I can tell. I can’t see a scroll bar, nor arrows to click. I’m guess it was designed for mobile to touch and fick to scroll, but I am a desktop user so cannot do that.
there was another issue but it changed as I was typing this apparently, so I guess the new UI is actively still being developed?
I’ve barely explored though so I am sure there will be more issues, the awful feel of the interface aside.
The episodes don’t even have airdates now.
I hope you lost millions of followers.
Used this site since 2013. New setup is terrible
Fire whoever came up with this idea.
